‘Everybody sees’… Jurgen Klopp says 18-year-old Liverpool youngster is now ready for the first-team

Jurgen Klopp has declared one of Liverpool’s young starlets as being ‘ready’ for the first-team.
Klopp has been fantastic at giving youngsters opportunities throughout his spell at Liverpool so far. But this season, that has arguably scaled new heights.
Jarell Quansah has been the standout name, surprisingly breaking into the senior side with consummate ease. With 16 appearances already to his name, Quansah is a superstar in the making.
What about Conor Bradley. The right-back would have probably played the same amount as Quansah, but injuries have restricted him to just seven games. Nevertheless, the 20-year-old has created no less excitement.
And then there’s Bobby Clark. At 18, Clark is comfortably the youngest of this trio. But having made another cameo for Liverpool in last night’s aggregate win over Fulham, he’s obviously a player Klopp likes. And speaking in his pre-Norwich City press conference this afternoon, the Reds manager admitted as much.
“Bobby Clark, it’s so nice to bring him on now,” gushed Klopp. “Everybody sees he is ready. That’s now the next step for him. Was he ready half a year ago? I don’t know, but now he is. Now we can bring him on and he can fill the role and make an impression and that’s really good.”
Klopp backs Clark for senior role
Just like Bradley, it’s likely that Clark may have featured more had he been fit all season. Instead, injury robbed him of the chance to play in the Europa League.
Since returning to fitness though, Klopp has been keeping Bobby in and around the first-team.

His appearance last night was cameo number three for the season for the midfielder. In terms of minutes, that has amounted to less than half an hour. But it’s something to build on.
Turning 19 at the beginning of February, Clark will now hope that he can kick on and pick up even more minutes as the season continues.

There had been some rumblings that the former Newcastle United prospect may head out on-loan this month. But given the glowing regard in which Klopp is talking about Clark here, that doesn’t look likely.
Instead, expect to see young Bobby cropping up on more and more squad lists.
Alexis Mac Allister is one who’s seemingly been impressed by the teenager. There is plenty of competition for places of course, but Clark looks to have the ability to make an impact.
His 15-minute spell from the bench against Arsenal three weeks ago suggested there’s a real player in there. We’re looking forward to watching his development in the weeks, months and years to come.

‘Headache’… Michail Antonio says Jurgen Klopp now has a ‘problem’ emerging at Liverpool
Thu 25 January 2024 13:30

Liverpool are looking good right across the board this season. Now into another cup final, things could hardly be better for Jurgen Klopp.
But according to West Ham United forward Michail Antonio, things may actually be a little too good where Liverpool’s attacking options are concerned.
Speaking as a pundit for Sky Sports during the Reds Carabao Cup clash with Fulham last night, Antonio said that Klopp will be having trouble picking between all his options.
Asked who the Liverpool manager will be thinking of playing in the front three positions for next month’s final vs Chelsea, the West Ham man said it would be a tough choice.
“It could be Jota. Jota gets goals,” Antonio mused. “To be honest he [Klopp] has a very good problem because he has Jota, Nunez, Gakpo and Salah but Salah is already in there.
“So he has three people to take the other two [positions]. It is a very good problem to have but it is a headache.”
Klopp facing attacking headache
Antonio is actually wrong here. In reality Klopp has four players to fill two positions, not three. The 33-year-old fails to even mention Luis Diaz as an option.
Given that Diaz had just put in a Man of the Match display in-front of him, that’s a little strange.

Nevertheless, the general point Antonio is making is correct. His views on Liverpool have been pretty debatable at times this season, but we’ll give him that.
Obviously, the elephant in the room is that no one knows quite yet whether Mohamed Salah will be fit for February the 25th. If he is, then he plays, no question.

But if Salah fails to recover from his current fitness problem, then Klopp is going to have an even bigger decision to make.
From our point of view, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are the two men in the best form. As things stand, our ideal three would be Salah, Jota, Nunez.
Cody Gakpo has been excellent throughout the Carabao campaign though, and therefore perhaps deserves to start the final.
Part of the reason this is a problem for Klopp though, is that all five are top options. All five also give you something different. That’s undoubtedly part of the reason Liverpool find themselves in the position they do this season. Someone’s going to be disappointed, though. A real headache indeed.

Jurgen Klopp admits he’s not sure if 25-year-old will be fit to play for Liverpool against Norwich
Thu 25 January 2024 14:30

Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Liverpool’s injury issues ahead of Sunday’s game against Norwich City.
The Reds are in a good moment. Having qualified for the Carabao Cup final last night, the first makings of a really good season are starting to peek through. Furthermore, they’re now beginning to get some key players back from injury.
Speaking to the press ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie with Norwich City, Klopp said that both Andy Robertson and Dominik Szoboszlai are in contention to play this weekend. Meanwhile, there’s still a possibility for Trent Alexander-Arnold, too.
“There’s a chance for all of them but we will have to see,” said the Reds manager. “It’s touch and go. Robbo is physically ready. It was good for him to be in the matchday squad [yesterday], and he’s in a normal team training schedule, like Dom from tomorrow. He [Szoboszlai] had a session yesterday, from tomorrow normal, ready for minutes.
“With Trent the game after we have to see. He was not even in parts of team training yet. If he can be tomorrow I have to make a decision there. It would be very helpful if they could all be involved but we’ll have to see.”
Liverpool trio close to return
Having been on the bench for Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Fulham last night, Robertson is clearly the most ready out of this trio.
With the game being at Anfield against a lower league side, perhaps Sunday would be a good chance to get the 29-year-old some minutes in his legs.
As for Szoboszlai, we’d be surprised to see him starting the game. If he comes through training okay in the next two days though, the Hungarian will surely be on the bench.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Alexander-Arnold is obviously the one who still has a question mark hanging over him.
However, it’s certainly appears that he’s very, very close to returning. Even if the 25-year-old does come back to training this week though, there’s no need to risk him for the Norwich game.

Conor Bradley has now proven that he’s more than capable of filling in at right-back. Besides, once Trent is fit again, Bradley is unlikely to get too many minutes.
While he’s raring to go and Alexander-Arnold is recovering, the 20-year-old should have the shirt.
Meanwhile, Klopp also did give an update on the likes of Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bacjetic, too. According to the manager, Tsimikas is now fit, but just waiting for the ‘green light’ from the medical team. Thiago and Bajcetic on the other hand are expected back ‘sooner rather than later.’
With no new issues to report, Klopp is getting dangerously close to having his whole squad available. What a novelty that would be!
