Tottenham join race to sign Jeremy Doku

Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing 19-year-old Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, a target for Manchester City, this summer.

According to a report from The Independent, Tottenham have joined Premier League champions Manchester City in the race to sign Jeremy Doku, valued at £50 million by Stade Rennais. Apparently, West Ham have submitted an offer to sign the player as well and it remains to be seen whether Spurs can win the race for his signature.

The Belgian winger is highly rated around Europe, and he has a big future ahead of him. He has been linked with the move to the Premier League in the past as well, and Tottenham would do well to secure his services.

The North London outfit recently sanctioned the departure of Harry Kane, and they will have to replace the England international’s output adequately. Although Doku is a winger and will not be able to replace the goals of the England international, a couple of quality signings like him could certainly fill the void left by Kane.

The Belgian international winger will add pace and unpredictability to the Tottenham attack. Spurs are likely to employ a free-flowing attacking system under new manager Ange Postecoglou, and Doku would certainly thrive in such a system.

Manchester City agree personal terms with Jeremy Doku; West Ham attempting to hijack deal

Players like Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Richarlison had underwhelming 2022/23 campaigns, and Tottenham need to add more depth to the attack. They have already brought in James Maddison to add creativity and vision in the final third. And the arrival of Doku would add a new dimension to their attack.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an attractive option for the player, and the Belgian is likely to be tempted if Tottenham come calling. It will be interesting to see if Spurs are willing to pay £50 million for him this summer. Both Manchester City and West Ham have the resources to sign the player as well.

However, the Premier League champions will be able to offer him Champions League football, which could give them an edge in the transfer race. In addition, Manchester City have reportedly agreed personal terms with the young winger.

Tottenham, on the other hand, will not be competing in European football next season. As far as West Ham are concerned, they will be playing in the Europa League and they are likely to be an attractive destination as well. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few days.
