DEAL SCATTERED:Psg  €150m most greatest player rejected four clubs offer’s,,and went to Liverpool, klopp’s smile’s

This summer, amidst the buzz of the transfer window, Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach seemed to be shaping into one such tale. Early links were strong, and Liverpool FC’s intent was evident. However, the wheel of footballing fortunes often spins unpredictably.

Hurdles on the Horizon

It wasn’t just the transfer complexities that loomed. Manu Kone’s unfortunate setback at the U21 European Championship, a grim knee injury, poured cold water on the initial fervour. A potential new recruit nursing an injury wasn’t an ideal scenario for the Reds.

David Lynch, an authoritative voice from This Is Anfield, has now stoked the fires of this saga again. Liverpool’s interest in the French sensation may have been rekindled.

Monchengladbach’s Stance: Valuing Their Jewel

Roland Virkus, the man steering the ship at Borussia Monchengladbach, doesn’t mince his words when he speaks of Kone. To him, Kone is more than just a player. He’s a balance, an essential cog in the Gladbach machine.

Virkus elaborated:

“Kone is a player who has something different, he gives you as a team a better balance in midfield. He’s very important to us, a tough and intelligent footballer. We need stability in this position.”

The sporting director’s statement paints a vivid picture. Kone, despite the hurdles of the recent past, made 31 appearances last season, even contributing a goal and an assist. For Virkus, selling isn’t on the horizon:

“We don’t have to sell him. But if there is another immense offer, then we have to think about it. Our plan is to keep Kone.”

Liverpool’s Dilemma: To Bid or Not To Bid

Kone’s allure is undeniable. Liverpool’s scouts, with their meticulous eyes, have been keeping tabs, watching his every move. The gravity of the interest suggests that the Merseyside giants see something special in this young French international.

However, the clock is ticking. As the transfer window inches towards its closure, decisions must be made. With Monchengladbach’s resolute stance and the inherent challenges of the negotiation, securing Kone’s signature will demand both effort and intent.

In the end, only time will unveil whether Manu Kone will don the Liverpool crest or remain a tale of what could have been.

MASON MOUNT will reportedly be out of action until at least after the upcoming international break after picking up an injury.

The former Chelsea midfielder will be unavailable to play against Nottingham Forest and probably Arsenal as well.

— Manchester United (@ManUtd) August 22, 2023

An official club statement published on manutd.com this Tuesday said: ‘Mason Mount is set to miss Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest due to an injury picked up in last weekend’s encounter with Tottenham Hotspur. The small complaint is expected to keep Mount out until the international break next month’

‘The England midfielder has started both of our Premier League games so far this season after making his competitive debut for the club in last week’s 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford’, it added.

Where will Mason Greenwood end up?

United have until the end of the month to find a home for Mason Greenwood or they face having to pay him millions of pounds on his current contract.

The Old Trafford outfit announced yesterday, Monday 21, that they were parting ways with the 21-year-old who had been suspended since his arrest in January 2022.

According to talksport.com this Tuesday 22, a number of clubs are interested in signing the one-cap England player. Serie A giants Roma are said to be one of them.

They are currently managed by Jose Mourinho, who was previously in charge at Old Trafford but never offered the then-young Greenwood any playing time in the Premier League. His full debut in United’s first team came under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following the dismissal of the Portuguese coach.

Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq are reported to be interested

The Sun chipped in by suggesting that Greenwood was on the radar of Al Ettifaq from the Saudi Pro League. Former Liverpool and England legend Steven Gerrard was recently appointed as the team’s head coach.

He quickly moved to bring in the former Anfield captain Jordan Henderson. The midfield general is reported to be picking up a staggering £700,000 per week in the Middle East.

Turkish giants Galatasaray are another option according to the news outlet, with The Times reporting that Turkish Super Lig club Istanbul Basaksehir had also contacted United about Greenwood.

Galatasaray have had an incredibly successful transfer window, landing Hakim Ziyech on loan from Chelsea and signing Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha.

Sofyan Amrabat latest

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool turned down the opportunity to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat this summer.

Speaking on YouTube, Romano said: “With Liverpool, they considered a deal for Sofyan Amrabat last week. However, they turned down a move, having signed Endo instead. For Man United, he remains a priority target, however they have to sell at least one more player.”

Andre Trindade January transfer could hinge on two key factors after Liverpool £25million bid reports

If Liverpool are to sign Andre Trindade before the summer transfer window closes they will be forced to work within tight constraints.

The Brazilian destroyer has been identified as a potential long-term defensive midfielder. Despite not making his break in European football as of yet, the 22-year-old is approaching the correct age bracket plus has displayed the relevant qualities – tough-tackling and desire to craft attacks – needed to operate within a Jurgen Klopp system.

In the hang time since being tipped to arrive as heir to Fabinho the Reds have gone into the market to sign Wataru Endo for £16m. At 30 years of age he will provide capable cover for the immediate future though his anticipated participation in the AFC Asian Cup at the start of 2024 sparks questions over the need for another arrival in this department.

Ultimately this is where Andre comes into play.

Full story on Alexis Mac Allister’s successful appeal

Alexis Mac Allister has seen his red card picked up in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday overturned.

The Argentina midfielder was given his marching orders midway through the second half of the victory against the Cherries following what was viewed as a dangerous challenge by referee Thomas Bramall on Ryan Christie.

After a check from VAR Paul Tierney, who was reviewing the video footage at Stockley Park, Mac Allister was sent off on his home debut following his £35m switch from Brighton & Hove Albion. It was Liverpool’s first red card for 12 months.

However, after the club lodged an appeal on Monday, the decision has now been overturned by the Football Association, who reviewed the evidence via an independent regulatory commission, leaving Mac Allister in the clear to take part in the game against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.

An FA statement read: “An independent Regulatory Commission has removed Alexis Mac Allister’s three-match suspension following a claim of wrongful dismissal. The Liverpool midfielder was sent off for serious foul play during their Premier League game against Bournemouth on Saturday, 19 August.”

Joe Gomez opens up on injury nightmare

Speaking with Jacamo and CALM, Gomez said:

“Once I got injured, I had a lot of spare time, I think that’s the biggest thing you notice as a player, that when you’re on the pitch training you don’t have time to be thinking, you’re just in your subconscious enjoying the game.

“I had a couple of little injuries and then my last one with my hamstring was a big one and sort of did rock my world. It made me up my appreciation.

“Once I got back into football, I had other battles with worrying about my body and things that I couldn’t control aside from doing the work I needed to do. It’s just appreciation and being thankful that I can do what I still do. And drawing on to that to keep me motivated to still do my gym sessions, even when we come back from an away game.

“I just remember in those moments where it was tough, aside from that, just enjoying it.”

Academy prospect Musialowski to leave this summer?

According to reports in Poland, Mateusz Musialowski has accepted a proposal from Austrian side TSV Hartberg.

Writing on Twitter, journalist Kuba Seweryn said: “Mateusz Musiałowski is not returning to Poland. Everything indicates that he will become a player of the Austrian TSV Hartberg. Such a decision was made by the 20-year-old himself, who preferred not to return to Poland. Now the Austrians have to solve the issue of his contract with Liverpool”

Endo x Jurgen

After the baptism of fire that was his Anfield debut last weekend, Wataru Endo appeared in calmer spirits when speaking to Jurgen Klopp at training on Tuesday, ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle United.

Will Endo be handed his first start for the Reds at St James’ Park?

Jurgen Klopp comments and the truth about ‘£100m’ left in Liverpool transfer kitty

After Liverpool failed in their bid to land Moises Caicedo attention understandably turned to where the £111m that was bid could be deployed to.

Having been often criticised for a perceived lack of willingness to engage in major transfer spend compared to their rivals, Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group gave the green light for the Reds to pursue what would have been a British transfer record deal for the 21-year–old Ecuadorian, who had shone in his first full season in the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion last season.

It wasn’t to be, however, as Chelsea refused to be beaten when it came to their long-standing interest in the player, working the numbers over a fraught weekend before officially lodging a £115m bid that would be enough to get the deal over the line, with Caicedo having indicated his preference to head to West London instead of Merseyside.

A move for Romeo Lavia at a £60m valuation fell through in the aftermath of Caicedo, with Chelsea once again stymying Liverpool in their efforts to add to quality and youth to their midfield ranks after something of an exodus during the summer in terms of their options in the middle of the park.

Phillips move urged

Liverpool have been urged to make a move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

It was recently reported by talkSPORT the Reds are interested in the ex-Leeds United midfielder, though it remains to be seen whether or not this results in an offer being made.

One individual who believes Liverpool may be wise to target Phillips is former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan, who told talkSPORT:

I am not quite as big an admirer as others might be. But, notwithstanding that, I think Liverpool have a need (for midfielder).

It will be interesting to see if there is any resistance from Man City about doing business with Liverpool. If there is any pushback on the idea that you are enhancing a rival by giving them something that they are missing.”

“The briefing coming out of Bayern is that Ryan Gravenberch is part of the plans”

Neil Jones has claimed that Bayern Munich have provided no encouragement that they’d be willing to sell Ryan Gravenberch.

The Reds are reportedly eyeing a move for the Dutchman, who has found it difficult to break into the first-team following his move from Ajax, last summer.

It has been said that the Bavarians are open to selling the 21-year-old, with Liverpool among them. However, speaking to Redmen TV, Liverpool haven’t received any inkling that they could sign him.

“We spoke about what are his prospects for playing this season. They’ve signed Konrad Laimer, they wanted to sign Declan Rice and weren’t able to do so. There was no real sign that he was all of a sudden going to be central to Bayern Munich’s plans, literally and metaphorically.

“I think that’s why these stories are still there, we’re getting late in the transfer window and there’s a player there who has got suitors and isn’t in the team that he wishes to be in.

“If Liverpool were given any encouragement from Bayern, I think they’d right in there, they haven’t yet. The briefing coming out of Bayern is that no, Ryan Gravenberch is part of the plans.”

Marcelo Pitaluga open to loan

Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga has hinted that a loan exit could be an option for him this season.

It was a successful first loan spell at Macclesfield FC for the Brazilian as the Silkmen eased to the Northern Premier League West title.

A finger injury curtailed his involvement in their title push but he did return to pick up a winner’s medal.

Macclesfield’s promotion moved them to within three steps of the Football League, however, Pitaluga is eyeing a possible “step up”.

He told Liverpool’s official website: “Going out on loan to a Football League team is one possibility,” Pitaluga said. “We will see how it goes, but it is massive at my age to be playing games. It would be a step up from last season, but I am more than ready for that.

“Last season I played for Macclesfield but was still able to train here at Liverpool and then go up there for the games. I played loads of games until I unfortunately got injured and it was really important to get minutes.

“It was definitely more physical and I would say this was one of the main points about going there. You don’t get this level of physicality in the U21s, so it was a bit more of a challenge for me.

“Playing the ball out from the back is not really common at that level either, but luckily enough I was playing for a club that tried to do that. It was a good aspect for me as I was trying to work on playing the ball out and we did well.

“We got promoted as champions and I really enjoyed it. I played loads of games for the side and in the end we finished in first place. There’s nothing more I can ask for.”

Alexis Mac Allister red card appeal decision could expose major Liverpool transfer concern

A penny for Alexis Mac Allister’s thoughts had he been watching Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night.

With the 10-man Gunners holding on to their slender lead in the closing seconds, both Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard could be seen reaching for the imaginary yellow card as they urged referee David Coote to dish out a caution for what they viewed as some last-gasp simulation from the home side at Selhurst Park.

Both Arsenal players, predictably, evaded sanction barely a week after Mac Allister was carded for the exact same motion at Chelsea following a crude upending from Conor Gallagher.

The new guidelines to yellow-card players demanding their opponents have their name taken appear to have lasted just a few days on the evidence of Monday evening and Mac Allister could be forgiven for thinking the officials have made him a marked man in the early days of his Liverpool tenure.

Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch faces an uncertain future

Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch faces an uncertain future, according to The Athletic.

The Bavarians are said to be weighing up the sale of the 21-year-old amid a lack of playing time in the Bundesliga.

He started just three matches in his debut season in Germany, following his move from Ajax. And the Dutchman is said to be open to a move away.

Although a final decision has yet to be made but the club are said to be leaning towards keeping Gravenberch in the hope Tuchel will integrate him.

Liverpool unbeaten but what are the title odds?

Liverpool are outsiders to win the Premier League.

Although they’ve made a promising start, results-wise at least, Manchester City and Arsenal remain frontrunners.

Liverpool agree personal terms with Andre

Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement over personal terms with Fluminense midfielder Andre.

That is according to Emmanuel Luiz who was speaking on Redmen TV.

He said: “Manchester United went to Andre’s camp to talk to them about a possible negotiation. What they said [was] the player has personal terms agreed with Liverpool, personal already agreed. That’s done.

“The player said to Fluminense, the situation today – I called some guys close to Andre – and they said to me, Andre said to Fluminense ‘I want to go to Liverpool, I want to go, I have personal terms agreed’. That’s fine but what Fluminense said [was] we are not going to say right now because of the Copa Libertadores that we already know.

“So Andre said ‘I’m going to talk to them [Liverpool].”

Globo reported that Fluminense have reiterated their intentions to keep ahold of midfielder Andre.

As per the report from the outlet, Liverpool signalled a fee in the region of €30m (£25m), including bonuses, but the Serie A side reaffirmed their position that Andre will not be sold until the end of the current season in South America.

It has been reported that a move was pinned on whether Fernando Diniz’s side could advance beyond the Round of 16 in the Copa Libertadores. Ultimately, they did – beating Argentina Juniors – and now Liverpool could be forced to wait until January to welcome him.

Globo claim that Liverpool’s reluctance to lodge a formal bid comes after Fluminense issued their firm stance.

Marcel Desailly on nearly joining Liverpool

It’s the transfer window so who doesn’t love a story?

I certainly do.

Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has revealed that he almost signed for Liverpool during his career.

The Frenchman would win the Champions League with Marseille and AC Milan before enjoying domestic honours with the Londoners.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, he said: “I was interested in joining Liverpool in 1998, they made a good proposal. But the area didn’t have a French school for my kids and the lifestyle was a problem compared to London.

“The lifestyle is probably why I joined Chelsea over Liverpool, yes. My wife made a real statement that she didn’t want me to drive between London and Liverpool while she stayed in London and my four kids did not have a French school. It’s one of the reasons at the time I chose Chelsea.

“Footballers are human beings, we have to deal with the internal elements that help us make decisions. And small things like that sometimes make the difference, because the money will be good wherever you go. You are trying to make the best deal out of the proposal, but at the end of the day you don’t really care. What you care about is also the lifestyle you are going to have on top of your football.”

Mohamed Salah not for sale

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool will not sell the forward, as he chases new records at Anfield – overtaking Steven Gerrard with his goal during Saturday’s 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth.

He said: “From what I am told the position of Liverpool is very clear. Salah is untouchable, with Fabinho and Henderson they did something special, as they allowed the players to leave. But they don’t want Mo Salah to leave.”

Salah has become a key player for Liverpool since signing from AS Roma in 2017. Many Reds and Jurgen Klopp consider the Egyptian as indispensable as they look to reclaim their place among Europe’s elite.

This summer has stunned many after Saudi Arabian influence has prised a number of key talents away from the Premier League and around Europe. Liverpool haven’t avoided the shopping trolley of the Kingdom with Al Ittihad and Al Ettifaq signing Reds stalwart’s Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, respectively.

The future of Salah has been up for debate and constantly rages on, despite signing a bumper contract extension last summer. Salah’s agent has been forced to deny that an agreement has been reached over a move to the Middle East.

Liverpool face Andre wait

Fluminense have reiterated their intentions to keep ahold of midfielder Andre Trindade, according to Globo.

The Brazilian has been eyed by Liverpool this summer as Jurgen Klopp continues to bolster his ranks in the middle. Wataru Endo joined Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai as newcomers to Anfield this summer.

Prior to the Japanese captain’s move, Andre was among the players wanted by Liverpool as Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo were also in the hunt.

Liverpool eye Kalvin Phillips

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar, according to talkSPORT.

It has been claimed that the Reds had monitored the England midfielder while he was on the book at boyhood club, Leeds United.

According to Alex Crook of talkSPORT, the situation regarding Liverpool and Phillips is one to watch before the deadline on September 1.

He said: “Kalvin Phillips is a player Liverpool looked at before he went from Leeds to Man City, and we know it’s been a tough window for Liverpool in terms of target they’ve missed out on.

“Phillips is someone who is proven in the Premier League, he got that £50million move to City on the back of a really good European Championship for England, and we’ve got a Euros at the end of the season.

“I think at the start of the season Phillips wanted to stay and fight for his place at Man City, but he was on the bench with a load of kids at the weekend and he isn’t going to force his way into that team.

“Surely if he wants to play for England at the Euros, this would be a great move for him. It’s one to keep an eye on from now until the end of the window.”

ICYMI: Liverpool appeal Alexis Mac Allister red card

Liverpool have chosen to formally appeal Alexis Mac Allister’s controversial dismissal during the Premier League clash with Bournemouth.

Mac Allister was given a straight red card shortly before the hour by referee Thomas Bramall after a challenge with Ryan Christie during the Reds’ 3-1 win at Anfield on Saturday.

Neither VAR Paul Tierney nor assistant Constantine Hatzidakis saw any reason to instruct Bramall to review the decision on the pitchside monitor, leaving Mac Allister – who was making his home debut having arrived from Brighton for £35million in the summer – facing a three-match suspension.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp questioned the decision in the immediate aftermath and raised the possibility of the sending-off being challenged.

And the Reds have now decided to lodge an appeal under the category of ‘wrongful dismissal’ with the Football Association, having done so within the deadline of two days after the incident.

The FA will now review the evidence via an independent regulatory commission, and have the power overturn the decision and cancel Mac Allister’s suspension.

They will report back later this week with Mac Allister at present set to miss Sunday’s trip to Newcastle United, along with games against Aston Villa at home and Wolverhampton Wanderers away.

Liverpool have taken into account the FA’s stance on ‘frivolous’ appeals, which can result in a three-game ban being upgraded to four if the appeal is rejected. An appeal can, however, be dismissed without the punishment of an extra game if it is considered there was justification for the initial decision to be queried.

Speaking on Saturday, Klopp said: “I saw it back, I think the amount of times I’ve been asked about it shows we’re discussing it. In the game, I asked Macca and he said ‘I touched him but not really’, that was all he told me.

“After the game, I saw it and if you have a list of points of what we need to give a red card, for what we need for contact, no other box is ticked in that moment. “I think the punishment 40 minutes with 10 men it’s already punishment enough.”

Borussia Monchengladbach issue Manu Kone transfer warning

Borussia Monchengladbach manager Roland Virkus insists it would take an “immense offer” for the club to consider selling Manu Kone this summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent months, with the ECHO understanding he was under consideration by the Reds’ transfer chiefs earlier in the window.

However, after suffering a serious knee injury at the under-21s European Championships back in June, Kone has yet to resume full training and has seen talk of a big-money switch from Borussia Park fail to materialise. In fact, since being touted with a move for Kone, Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.

Meanwhile back in Germany, speaking to Bild, Virkus insisted the Bundesliga outfit are under no pressure to sell one of their most-prized assets before the September 1 deadline as they look to build on last season’s 10th-place finish.

“We don’t have to sell him,” said Virkus. “But it was always like this: if there is another immense offer, then we have to think about it. But that’s not the plan. Our plan is to keep Kone.

“Kone is a player who has something different, he gives you as a team a better balance in midfield. He’s coming back after the international break and he’s very important to us, a tough and intelligent footballer. We need stability in this position.”
