Liverpool are interested in signing Youssouf Fofana, a player Cesc Fabregas hoped would move to Anfield just last year.
Jurgen Klopp’s side spent big money in the summer on their midfield. They brought in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch, and they’ve all been great. Now, it looks like Liverpool are eyeing another midfielder – Fofana.

Cesc Fabregas wanted Youssouf Fofana to join Liverpool
Monaco star and Liverpool target Youssouf Fofana has been of interest to clubs in the Premier League for a while now.
Arsenal were heavily linked with a move to sign the midfielder earlier this year, as were West Ham United when they were searching for a replacement for Declan Rice.
No moves materialised in the summer, but things could be very different in the January transfer window, when Fofana will enter the final six months of his contract – although Monaco have an option to extend his deal by another year.
90min claim this week that Liverpool are among the clubs who have Fofana on their radar.
Cesc Fabregas, who knows a thing or two about being a great midfielder, tipped the 24-year-old Monaco man to join Liverpool in an interview with RMC Sport last year.
He said at the time: “When I came (Monaco), Thierry (Henry) and Vadim (Vasilyev) also asked me to help grow the young people. It was an important point. Today, I feel like I have won the respect and sympathy of this younger generation.
“I hope I have helped. We like each other. I will continue to follow them, exchange with them. I would like to see (Youssouf) Fofana, (Sofiane) Diop or (Aurelien) Tchouameni at Bayern or Liverpool!”

Liverpool target Fofana is an ‘all-action’ midfielder
Youssouf Fofana has been impressing in France for a few years now, and it is no surprise that he has been linked with a move to clubs like Liverpool.
The 24-year-old, who has been capped 12 times by France, has been described as a ‘combative and all-action presence’ in the middle of the park by Goal.
Fofana has played as a defensive midfielder in every game in the Ligue 1 this season. He still has three assists to his name, which is a great return.
It will be interesting to see what will happen with Fofana, but it’s almost certain that he will leave Monaco for a bigger club next year. Whether his next destination will be Liverpool, however, remains to be seen.
