Caoimhín Kelleher makes ‘scary’ claim about Liverpool teammates as Jürgen Klopp message explained
Caoimhín Kelleher has been speaking about some of his Liverpool teammates and has also outlined the message given to the Reds by Jürgen Klopp against LASK.

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher admits he is relieved he only has to come up against the Reds’ ‘scary’ forward line in training.
The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper made his first appearance of the season in the Europa League win over LASK on Thursday. He was powerless to prevent Florian Flecker from giving the Austrian side the lead with a stunning strike inside 15 minutes.
But Jürgen Klopp’s side turned the game on its head in the second half, handing the Reds a 3-1 victory in their opening group stage game. Last season, Kelleher’s playing time was limited due to early exits in domestic cup competitions, allowing him to make only four appearances.

The stopper is eager to contribute more this season and is grateful that he doesn’t have to face Liverpool’s forwards in competitive matches. Speaking after the victory over LASK, Kelleher said: “I think in the last few games we’ve scored a lot of goals.
“That forward line is scary at times and there’s a lot of depth to it as well. Whoever is starting, there are players to come off the bench that can cause problems. I’m happy that I only face them in training!”
Liverpool’s strength in depth was evident in Austria, with goals from Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez turning the game in their favor. Mohamed Salah also came off the bench to add a third while Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo remained unused substitutes.
Training alongside such elite forwards on a daily basis undoubtedly benefits Kelleher’s development as a goalkeeper. The 24-year-old also revealed the half-time message from manager Klopp that helped inspire the Reds’ comeback.

He said: “It was nice to get out there, and hopefully I can play a few more games in this competition. We didn’t play great in the first half, but Klopp mentioned that there were some good things we were doing and encouraged us to continue with them.
“The key messages were that we were playing good football; it was just a bit of indecisiveness and sloppiness in the first half. We made adjustments and luckily scored three great goals.”
