Bukayo Saka trolls Tottenham star with celebration after putting Arsenal 1-0 up

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka trolled Tottenham midfielder James Maddison with his celebration after putting the Gunners 1-0 up in today’s North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium.

Saka’s shot took a heavy deflection off Cristian Romeo on the way in to the back of the net, but they all count and Mikel Arteta’s side certainly enjoyed their early breakthrough in today’s big game.

Saka couldn’t resist copying Maddison’s celebration, mimicking throwing a dart, which his England teammate has done for both Spurs and former club Leicester City.

Arsenal were the favourites for this game and the game seems to be playing out that way so far, with the home side on top for much of this first half.

Still, Tottenham have also started the season well so AFC would do well not to take them lightly or things could change in the second half.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka mimicked Tottenham midfielder James Maddison’s celebration after the Gunners took the lead in the North London Derby.

Arsenal drew first blood against Spurs, as Martin Odegaard played a ball out to Saka on the right, who cut back onto his favoured left foot and attempted to bend an effort into the far corner.

Spurs centre-back Christian Romero stuck out a wild left leg, which sent the ball away from Vicario in the Spurs goal and into the net.

While the goal ultimately went down as a Romero own-goal, Saka rubbed further salt in Tottenham’s wounds by imitating Maddison’s ‘darts’ celebration.

Despite a dominant half for the Gunners, Tottenham equalised in the 40th minute through captain Son Heung-min.

Maddison skipped past Saka, made it to the byline and cut a ball back to Son, who swept in an emphatic finish against the run of play.

Tottenham chief Daniel Levy has jokingly banned James Maddison from driving one type of car following his summer transfer.

Maddison has starred for his new side since his £40 million summer move from Leicester City.

He’s bagged two goals, including a stunning strike against Burnley, and registered two assists as he bagged the Premier League player of the month award for August.

His form at club level saw him land a spot in England’s starting XI against Ukraine in their Euro 2024 qualifier during the international break.

Despite his brilliant and prolific start at Spurs, Levy has jokingly scolded Maddison over the colour of his car.

The club’s chairman revealed that he had to tell the 26-year-old NOT to turn up to training driving a red car.

Of course, red is the colour donned by their cross-town rivals Arsenal.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Sunday’s showdown at the Emirates, he said: “James needs to learn that he can’t come to the training ground in a red car. I’ve told him.

“He’ll learn,” he added.

Levy also showered Ange Postecoglou with high praise, calling him a ‘breath of fresh air’ following his appointment in the summer.

“Honestly, there was a lot of pressure on me to bring in somebody that was a big name,” he said.

“I just wanted somebody who understood our DNA, would play attacking football, that would give young players a chance, believe in the academy, would build a relationship with the fans and understand the resources that we have and don’t have as a club and be part of a team.

“Ange, I have to say, is a breath of fresh air.”

Spurs have won four of their five opening league games and sit in second place in the table, with 13 points on the board ahead of playing Arsenal.

Arsenal will face the toughest test of their season so far when they come up against bitter rivals Tottenham at the Emirates on Sunday.

Spurs travel to face their neighbours with a superior Premier League position, having been revitalised by new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Both north London clubs have taken 13 points from their opening five matches but it is arguably Spurs who have impressed more, with Postecoglou’s side adapting well to life after Harry Kane.

That is not to say Arsenal have been sluggish at the start of the new campaign. While some predicted the Gunners might struggle following the heartbreak of last season, Mikel Arteta’s side again look like challenging for honours after being boosted by their summer signings.

Arsenal head into this weekend’s game having recorded consecutive wins over Manchester United, their bogey away team Everton, and PSV – who they thrashed 4-0 on their return to the Champions League on Wednesday night.

It was Bukayo Saka’s debut in the competition and the England international did not disappoint, opening the scoring after just eight minutes to help set up a comfortable win.
