Liverpool’s huge offer ready, Barca hope Reds seal signing – report

Another day, another interesting story on the future of Kylian Mbappe, who may end up joining Liverpool from PSG.

As per today’s version of Mundo Deportivo (news image provided below), the headline states “Liverpool longs for Mbappe as a replacement for Mohamed Salah”.

News – Report – Klopp determined to sign £60m ex-Lazio player for Liverpool

The Merseysiders may have a real chance of beating Real Madrid in the race for the French international and Barca hope the Reds seal the signing.

MD claim the 25-year-old prefers to play on the left flank but at the Bernabeu, the position is occupied by Vinicius Jr.

On the other hand, if he plays in the No.9 role then between Bellingham, Rodrygo and Vini, “his leadership could be disputed” and he has already experienced the situation while playing with Messi and Neymar at PSG.

However, the famous Catalan news source have mentioned that at Liverpool, they are ready to offer Mbappe the “king’s throne”.

It is reported that if Salah ends up leaving, the Les Bleus star will be offered a starring role and FSG will do everything to turn him into an “idol and icon” at Anfield.

Mundo Deportivo state the Premier League is a much more attractive than the Spanish La Liga and this is the “hope that the Cules” (Barca) maintain that Liverpool will sign Mbappe as seeing him in Madrid will make them fear for a “very white five years”.

Kylian Mbappe remains undecided on his future which has led to speculation that Liverpool have the rare opportunity of holding talks with the French forward and could present him with an offer to move to Anfield.

A report from le10sport in France states that Liverpool will hold talks with Mbappe and his entourage in the “coming weeks”.

This follows a story in the French media that suggested Real Madrid had already reached an agreement with Mbappe over a summer move to the Bernabeu.

The Times refuted the claims suggesting that the 25-year-old has not yet made a decision on his future and that he is still considering his options, among which include a move to the Premier League.

It was all swiftly put to bed with a statement given by Mbappe’s camp to RMC Sport.

The statement reads: “There is no agreement about Kylian’s future, especially as there are no discussions underway about it. No type of influence could dictate the timing of Kylian’s discussions, reflections or decisions.”

Liverpool ready to offer contract to Kylian Mbappe
Now, it’s reported in Spain that Liverpool are prepared to submit a contract offer to Mbappe to capitalise on the French striker’s indecision.

His PSG contract expires in less than six months which leaves him free to talk to interested clubs and thanks to FIFA’s rules, he can sign a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool if they can convince him to choose them over Real Madrid. Fichajes reports that the “always attentive” Liverpool recruitment team are very closely watching the developing situation.

The Reds are “the best club best positioned in the Premier League to sign” the 25-year-old striker as a free agent in the summer.

It’s an incredibly difficult ask, especially given Real Madrid’s financial strength, but it all rests on what Mbappe wants. If he wants Liverpool, it makes finding an agreement a lot easier.

If not, basically impossible.

With that in mind…

What can Liverpool offer Mbappe?
Aside from the obvious like Anfield, the fans, the culture of success, Jurgen Klopp’s game-management etc, Liverpool can still offer the Frenchman a lot more than they are credited with.

Not for nothing, the Reds pay some of the best wages around. The only difference is that they only pay high salaries to players that have proven they deserve it. Mohamed Salah, for instance, earns £18.2 million per year.

However, Mbappe earns that equivalent every four or so months in Paris. To afford his wages at the current time, Liverpool would need to cut their wage bill by 34%.

In terms of what they can offer in contract terms, they have a few options.

Liverpool will want to sign him on a long-term contract given the serious money he’d be earning with no less than a three-year contract likely to be offered.

A loan would be an interesting option but it would be disruptive. I’d still love it but it’s just so un-Liverpool.

Former Liverpool player Sadio Mané has wed his long-time girlfriend, Aisha Tamba.

The exact duration of the couple’s relationship remains undisclosed. The private nuptials took place in Keur Massar, a district in Senegal’s capital city, Dakar, just a week shy of the Africa Cup of Nations’ commencement.

According to Pulse Sports, Mané, now playing for Al-Nassr, not only won Aisha’s heart but also financed her education at a private college in Mbao. As a senior student there, Aisha’s academic journey was made easier by the footballer’s generosity.

Pictures from their intimate wedding ceremony were shared on Instagram by @Magvision_Evens_Officiel. The images capture moments of affection between the newlyweds — Mané kissing Aisha’s hands and snuggling close to her. One particular photo features the couple seated beneath a rose arrangement with ‘Mrs Mané’ emblazoned on the wall in gold.

Born in Casamance, a town adjacent to Mané’s birthplace, Aisha shares not only her husband’s Islamic faith but also his penchant for privacy. During his six-year tenure with Liverpool, which concluded in 2022, Mané kept his romantic life under wraps.

Back in 2022, when asked about his ideal life partner, Mané had stated (as per the Tribune): “I’ve seen a lot of girls asking me why I am not married, but sorry you might be wasting your time. The woman I marry will not be on social networks. I want to marry a woman who respects God and prays well. Everyone has their own way of making their choice of love.”

Mané, who had a brief stint with Bayern Munich post his Liverpool departure, is currently a part of the Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. He joined the affluent Saudi team after a challenging year in Germany with Bayern.

While Mané gears up for the Africa Cup of Nations, his new wife Aisha is reportedly committed to continuing her studies. The 31-year-old’s first match as a married man will be against Gambia on January 15th.

Liverpool finally reveal when Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic WILL be back
January 9, 2024
Joanna Durkan
Liverpool have waited a long time to be able to call upon either Thiago or Stefan Bajcetic, but the end may finally be in sight should training returns go to plan.

Jurgen Klopp has not been able to call upon Thiago since April of last year, with a hip injury needing surgery, which was then followed by a series of setbacks.

It was an issue that the Spaniard had predicted for himself, such is his style of play, but he could be getting closer to playing a part this season – and the same could be said for Bajcetic.

The young midfielder has featured twice in 2023/24 but has not been seen in the last 22 games, though the club have a plan to reintroduce them into training in February.

“They will not be ready for the end of this month. It will probably be going into the next month to train with us,” assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders said of the club’s plan.

“But both [with] no complications, progressing.”

It is at least positive news, unlike that of the recent blow for Trent Alexander-Arnold, though we still have some time to wait before they return to full training and then competitive action.

A return to full team training will be a boost not only for them but the entire squad, from there they will need to adjust and train without issue before making a competitive outing.

This could be late February or even into March, a lot will depend on their fitness, stamina and how they react to increasing their work load after so long out of the team.

At this stage, though, it can only be seen as a positive, and their returns to training are likely to follow that of Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.

“Hopefully both of them – Robbo and Kostas – will be back at the end of this month to train with the team,” Lijnders told reporters on Friday.

Fabio Cravalho is set to complete a loan move to Hull City imminently after being recalled from RB Leipzig with the attacking midfielder in dire need of game time.

Yesterday, it was confirmed by David Ornstein that his move to the Championship outfit will “be done in coming days” and considering that the 21-year-old has played just 998 minutes of football for Liverpool and Leipzig since the start of the 2022/23 season, he will be fired up to play regularly.

He arrived at Anfield with a sense of expectation but for whatever reason, it just hasn’t worked out for him so far.

Fortunately, Liverpool have swiftly found another loan spell, this time at Hull City, where he can go in and get some seriously needed game time.

Fabio Carvalho close to Hull City loan move, personal terms agreed
With his move set to be confirmed, Hull’s owner, Acun Ilıcalı, has confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Carvalho and his entourage over personal terms for his short stay at the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 54-year-old said: “We agreed all terms with him. I’m very happy to say he’s going to wear the Hull shirt.

“It’s almost done. The announcement has to be done, that’s all. The club will do it.”

“It’s almost done and we are very happy” ⏳

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali confirms that their loan deal for Fábio Carvalho from Liverpool is almost complete 🔜 pic.twitter.com/JMdqf2DZQL

— Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) January 8, 2024
Carvalho’s development has certainly stalled but he’s still only 21 and Ilicali is excited to have the Liverpool star at the club for the end of the Championship season.

The Hull City boss continued: “So many clubs wanted him and he chose us. It’s because of the way we are playing the game. Liam Rosenior has a big effect on that, playing nice football.

“He wants to go to a place where he will enjoy football. Hull is the best place for him to improve his talents.

“We are a fantastic club with fantastic players and a fantastic coach. Everything is so good here.”

Carvalho will return to the club in the summer when his future will be decided based on how his loan spell went.

It’s too early to say what the 2024/25 season will hold for him but he will be desperate to show Klopp why he should be part of the squad.

He will also have pre-season in the summer to make his point to the coaching staff during training and friendlies.

Dominik Szoboszlai issues injury update after things ‘didn’t go as planned’ at Liverpool
Tue 9 January 2024 08:00
Bence Bocsak
2024 didn’t start the way Dominik Szoboszlai would have wanted. His injury against Newcastle in the first game of the calendar year came at an unfortunate time for Liverpool as well.

Jurgen Klopp is already without several key players, and Szoboszlai being ruled out just further added to the Liverpool boss’ injury problems.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom. The Hungarian’s muscle injury is not thought to be serious, and he could be back sooner rather than later.

Last night, Szoboszlai was back in his homeland to receive the Hungarian Male Sports Person of the Year award for 2023, and prior to the ceremony he spoke to journalists to give an update on his injury.

Szoboszlai injury update
Speaking to M4 Sport, Szoboszlai revealed that things did not go according to plan against Newcastle in his first game, but that he will be on the pitch very soon.

“I’m getting better. The first game of the year didn’t go as planned [for me], but it won’t take long and I’ll be back.”

That’s about as positive of an about as Liverpool fans could hope for. Having Szoboszlai back in the side will be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp.

Fulham midweek might come too early, but based on Szoboszlai’s words it seems very possible that he could be in line to feature against Bournemouth in Liverpool’s next Premier League game.

NEWSRecruitment: Police chief warns officials against collection of money from applicants

Published 2 days ago on January 7, 2024By Anambra Daily Reporter

The Chairman, of the Police Service Commission, Mr Solomon Arase, has instructed the commission’s officials, deployed for the recruitment of new Constables, against the collection of money from applicants and families.

Arase, a retired Inspector-General of Police, gave the warning at a pre-deployment briefing of the physical and credentials screening officials on Saturday, ahead of the exercise starting on Monday across the federation.

This is contained in a statement on Sunday by the commission spokesperson, Mr Ikechukwu Ani.

According to Arase, it is not just a recruitment exercise, but a defence of the sanctity of the commission’s mandate and demonstration of its competence.

He said collecting money from applicants or families was an action contrary to the principles of integrity and fairness, stressing that the officials were not merely fulfilling a duty, but shaping the future of the Force.

The Chairman charged the officials to adhere strictly to the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct throughout the entire duration of the exercise.

“I admonish you to anticipate unprecedented challenges during this exercise. With over 400,000 applicants passing through your stations, each presenting argument to join the Nigeria Police Force, the pressure will be immense.

“Remember, you are the guardians of a process that not only holds inherent significance, but also paves the way for the forthcoming 30,000-man recruitment approved by the current administration.

“Embrace this responsibility with the knowledge that your actions will resonate beyond the confines of the present. As staff of the Commission, you are entrusted with a job that carries the weight of our nation’s aspirations for a just and secure future,” Arase admonished.

The chairman pointed out that the recruitment was significant as it is the first conducted by the Commission after the supreme Court Judgment on 20th July, 2023, that reaffirmed the primacy and exclusivity of the commission in recruiting for the Force.

“We stand at the precipice of a new era, and it is our solemn duty to ensure that this exercise establishes the gold standard for future recruitments.

“The nation’s watchful eyes will scrutinise our every move, demanding our unwavering dedication and commitment to the principles of fairness and justice.

“Therefore, I implore each of you to exhibit your best behavior, upholding the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and honesty,” he charged the officials.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mr Kayode Egbetokun has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, love and tolerance to foster the peace in the country ahead of 2024.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the IGP made the call on Sunday in Abuja in his New Year message to Nigerians.

The IGP emphasised the importance of collective efforts in building a harmonious society.

He urged communities to strengthen the bonds that would unite and foster understanding among diverse groups.

According to him, by embracing love and tolerance, Nigerians could overcome differences and work together towards a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

He said the Nigeria Police would remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of citizens, and enjoined the public to collaborate with the police and other security and law enforcement agencies.

The IGP urged the public to report any suspicious activities that could threaten the peace and well-being of their communities.

“Together, let us embark on a journey of compassion, understanding, and cooperation.

“May this new year bring about positive transformations for our great nation.

“Once again, we wish you a happy, prosperous, and fulfilling new year, 2024,” he said. (NAN)

Liverpool could unlock Gakpo with move for “unstoppable” £25m talent
BY
ANGUS SINCLAIR
PUBLISHED 1 HOUR AGO
Klopp might have identified the perfect signing to complete his side’s frontline.

Liverpool overcame a massive hurdle in dispatching Arsenal in the FA Cup last weekend, absorbing relentless waves of pressure before snatching victory with a late flurry to advance to the fourth round.

Jurgen Klopp must be delighted with his side, having put the disappointment of an abject 2022/23 campaign behind them with title-chasing success across all four fronts so far, emboldened by the influential summer changes to the midfield.

It hasn’t been perfect, but then football rarely is and perched in first place in the Premier League after 20 matches is a tremendous accomplishment, now requiring focus to keep hold of such a position into the campaign’s business end.

It’s unlikely that Liverpool will do anything drastic on the transfer front this month, but that’s not to say that preparations cannot be put in place for the summer.

Liverpool transfer news – Crysencio Summerville
According to a report from Anfield Watch last week, Liverpool are weighing up a transfer for creative Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville at the end of the campaign.

The Dutch ace has been at the centre of Daniel Farke’s side’s promotion push in the Championship this season and his dynamic performances have not been missed by the Liverpool transfer team – who love a shrewd signing.

Summerville had a £20.5m buyout clause in his contract but this is no longer viable, with insider Dean Jones telling GIVEMESPORT earlier in the season that it may well take a bid of £25m or more to sell.

The 22-year-old’s revived displays this season have indeed led to a glut of interest from numerous outfits, with Newcastle United also listed as suitors in a separate report.

Crysencio Summerville’s style of play
Described as “unstoppable” by Statman Dave after one effective display this season, Summerville has posted 12 goals and six assists across 23 matches in the second tier throughout 2023/24, fluctuating between wide flanks but principally found on the left.

Utterly mesmerising at times, Summerville, aged 22, has been the all-encompassing forward thus far and really looks like he has what it takes to succeed at a team such as Liverpool, fighting for honours at the forefront of European football.

Signed from Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord for a paltry £1.5m as an 18-year-old in 2020, Summerville spent his first two years at Elland Road honing his craft with the youth ranks, and he started to earn his stripes within the senior set-up last term, scoring four goals and supplying two assists from 12 Premier League starts.

But with Leeds collapsing and headed for relegation, the burden perhaps came with too much weight and he failed to produce performances to match his skill set, leaving some, including JustJoe Football Show’s Joe Wainman – questioning whether he should be shipped on before the anticipated summer rebuild.

The presenter said: “I may be wrong and this may come back to bite me, but whenever I’ve seen Summerville, he has not pulled up any trees. Okay, we might not have seen enough of him, you could argue.”

Wrong he was, with Summerville now growing into his skin and tantalising a rich career at the top of the game; of course, he will need to prove himself in the top flight but is using Leeds’ relegation as the perfect opportunity to sharpen his tools.

As per FBref, he ranks among the top 1% of attacking midfielders and wingers across divisions similar to the Championship over the past year for goals scored, the top 16% for assists, the top 2% for shot-creating actions, the top 4% for progressive carries and the top 10% for successful take-ons per 90.

Emphasising his quality as a protean attacking threat, Summerville indeed has so many angles from which to inflict damage on opposition defences and he could be the perfect addition to Liverpool, augmenting a formidable frontline while not upsetting the equilibrium, developing rising to the fore and perhaps even bringing the best out of Cody Gakpo.

How Summerville & Gakpo fit into the same team
Liverpool signed Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven for an initial £35m one year ago after the Netherlands international caught the eye at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring in all three of his nation’s group games and helping them to the quarter-finals, where they lost to eventual champions Argentina on penalties.

And while he’s been good, contributing effectively and proving invaluable with his versatility, this has hindered him somewhat and there is a sense that the natural centre-forward needs a run of games in his favoured role up front to truly grow into his skin.

With his countryman brought in to bolster the ranks, the £120k-per-week star could finally start producing the kind of rounded displays that are well within his grasp.

Ranking within the top 20% of positional peers across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for shot-creating actions, pass completion, progressive passes, progressive carries, successful take-ons, tackles, interceptions and blocks per 90, it’s clear that Liverpool wields a multi-edged weapon, and perhaps a partnership with a player such as Summerville would elevate his deadliness in decisive phases.

Indeed, with Summerville’s immense creativity and penetrative presence down the left channel, he could provide Gakpo with the supplementation he needs to flourish, having demonstrated his clinical ability with eight goals across all competitions for the Reds this season.

HBAgency
HBAgency
Liverpool’s star left winger Luis Diaz is an incredibly talented player but only boasts a single assist all campaign so far and averages 1.2 key passes per game in the English top-flight – which is certainly not a poor figure but emphasises that his best talents lie in his directness and fleet-footed ability to stretch defences.

With Summerville signed, Liverpool could complete their attack and flaunt a myriad of tools to wreak devastation from every angle.

Sadio Mane weds his beautiful wife

By Tata Mbunwe

Senegalese football star Sadio Mane has officially wedded his longtime sweetheart, Aisha Tamba, in a private ceremony held in Keur Massar, Dakar, Senegal, on January 7, 2024.

The intimate affair happened just one day after Mane, who currently plays as a forward for Al Nassr, inaugurated a football stadium he built in his hometown, Bambally.

The union between Mane and Aisha marks the culmination of a long-lasting relationship that reportedly began in their early years.

The couple has been discreet about their personal lives, keeping details away from the public eye, including the recent wedding.

Mane, a two-time African Player of the Year, has consistently maintained a low profile when it comes to his private affairs.

The wedding news sent ripples across social media platforms as images of the blissful ceremony emerged, capturing the hearts of fans and well-wishers alike.

Notably, Mane has refrained from making any official statements about the wedding, allowing the images to speak volumes.

The newlyweds have managed to keep their love story out of the public eye, and Mane’s wedding announcement comes as a delightful surprise to many of his admirers.

Aisha Tamba, a Muslim like Mane, hails from a humble and modest background, and is not present on social media

Interestingly, she is the daughter of Mane’s trusted architect, deepening the familial connection between the football star and his bride.

The timing of Mane’s wedding is particularly noteworthy, occurring just six days before the kickoff of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), where Mane is set to lead the Teranga Lions of Senegal to defend their title.

RIO FERDINAND CLAIMS LIVERPOOL MIDFIELDER IS BEING ‘OVERHYPED’
Amir Mir
Amir Mir
Tue 9 January 2024 6:00, UK
Liverpool revamped their midfield in the summer after the departures of some key men, including Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Whilst a lot of the talk was about dreaming and wanting Jude Bellingham. Many Liverpool fans were realistic enough to understand that simply wasn’t going to happen.

But one transfer deal that did get them off their seats and put a smile on their face was the £70 million deal for midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai.

The 23-year-old has made quite the start to life at Liverpool, but not for Rio Ferdinand, who thinks ‘everyone is hyping him’, as he told Vibe with Five.

The all-round midfield player can be trusted as a number six or a number eight. The ball-carrying ability of Dominik Szoboszlai is outstanding.

During the first few months of his time at Anfield, he was nearly faultless, although he has gone through a little blip of late and is now injured.

Despite all of that, Rio Ferdinand suggested that he is being overrated by the Liverpool fans.

Dominik Szoboszlai being overhyped?
“Everyone is hyping him, but I don’t think Dominik Szoboszlai has done (as well as people make out),” said Ferdinand.

“Oh, he’s the next Gerrard! I haven’t seen that yet. I see bare of their (Liverpool fans) comments. But one of my mates in my group always says it.

“But he is easy on the eye.”

FBL-ENG-PR-LIVERPOOL-NEWCASTLE

Dominik Szoboszlai is a game-changer for Liverpool
In years to come, this is a transfer that will prove to be even better and someone like Ferdinand might just have egg on his face.

There is an all-action nature to Szoboszlai’s play and it suits Jurgen Klopp down to the bone.

It has to be said that he did look fatigued over the festive period, but he will come good and showcase his worth again when he returns from injury.

And with Liverpool sitting top of the Premier League table, if they are to win the title again, then someone like Szoboszlai and his form is going to be absolutely crucial in the middle of the park.

Wasteful Arsenal dumped out of the FA Cup by Liverpool

Arsenal’s alarming streak of poor performances persisted as Liverpool handed them their third consecutive defeat this evening.

Having suffered losses against Fulham and West Ham in their preceding matches, Mikel Arteta and Martin Odegaard emphasised the need to make a statement by securing a victory against a Liverpool side weakened by the absence of Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo.

Although the Reds still possessed considerable quality, Arsenal knew this was a good opportunity to progress in the historic competition.

The Emirates Stadium was filled with fervent supporters, eager to witness Arsenal triumph over Liverpool.

The first half saw Arsenal outperforming the Reds and missed a host of chances, including some golden opportunities for Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, but the scoreline remained 0-0 at halftime.

Liverpool managed to weather numerous Arsenal attacks that threatened to result in goals, ultimately seizing the lead through a late own goal by Jakub Kiwior.

The game intensified at that point, with Arsenal making determined efforts to claw back into the match but leaving themselves vulnerable defensively.

In the dying moments, Luis Diaz added a second goal for Liverpool during a counterattack, effectively terminating Arsenal’s involvement in this season’s FA Cup after their first match.

The current situation has plunged Arsenal into a crisis, leaving fans perplexed at the unanticipated defeat to a weakened Liverpool side on home turf.

MAs horrific cup form continues….the 1 he was was 100% Emerys team! If you disagree how many of those players remain?

Again for the millionth time, it’s not Havertz fault that we signed him but when he plays, especially in midfield, we look significantly worse than last season. Mythical physical ability that some think he has, no comment. M9ney couldn’t and should’ve been used to get a DM or a striker

Nelson had a decent game considering how little game time he gets.

Saka completely off for months now, looks uninterested in the stale repetitive tactics we use

Jorginho far too slow, absolutely horrific player when we don’t have possession. Can’t tackle, can’t run, cant intercept.

Ode has been found out, as talented as he is he does the same 2-3 types of passes always and it’s getting read every time now. Maybe a real striker and swopping wings would help though

Rice left to try hold down midfield alone, can’t blame him.

Martinelli is a handful but needs actual runs into the box by someone

Ramsdale actually had a decent game, looks more secured that Raya all day long. Almost got an assist and made some decent saves. Nothing he could do about the goals

Thank goodness we have Saliba and Gabriel!!

MA……..
– no left back in the squad after spending 700mil
– tactically inept, can only copy Pep and refuses to change
– subs the wrong people almost always
– reactive subs after conceding…often
– uses huge budgets to buy his way out of poor form every window, new players start well and get worse under his “coaching”
– players played out of position often

We had a great first half and should have been 3-4 goals up. Havartz is great in movements but terrible on the ball. It’s not confidence or form, its his bad technical ability. It’s not going to get better. Combining his movement and technical ability, overall he is a mediocre player that the team has to carry.

Got exactly what we deserved.

Someone said how its Artetas fault that we miss so many chances.. Well we weren’t this wasteful last season so somethings changed in the mentality or in training or wherever.

This could be a blessing. Jesus injured (what a surprise), 14 days until next match. There are no excuses to NOT get a striker now. MA is basically forced to do it.

You could sense exactly what was going to happen from the very first minute.

If this doesnt prove that we need an out and out goal scorer, then nothing will! We’re still hanging on to the goals from Saka, Martinelli and Oodegard from last year. Our style of play has become all too predicable and teams have worked out how to stop Saka and co.

We dont have a Plan B.

I appreciate FFP will hold us back a bit, but why wasnt this addressed last year when we spent 65m on Havertz??

Sean WilliamsJanuary 7, 2024 at 6:56 pm
It’s not complicated….we NEED a striker. Isn’t it obvious, ne need Ivan Toney (no not journeyman Solanki). It is so sad to see us, every game, make chances but unable to finish. A striker of quality…..Please………..

Like I said earlier I stand by my words I will simply put. Today game was loat based on the gaffer decisions ie using right tactics when many star player are injured. Also, the players lack a fight. I see how Liverpool players at times crowded our players just to retrieve the ball back but our own player are non challant atimes.
Obviously we need a Left back, a CF and a midfielder.

Liverpool will be on brink of collapse if they complete one deal, presenter warns

Will the Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool links ever go away? Probably not any time soon.

The Frenchman’s ongoing impasse over a contract renewal with PSG has led to such reports resurfacing again, with his contract set to expire this summer.

Rickie Haywood-Williams has warned the Merseysiders against trying to complete a deal, however, noting the potentially devastating financial ramifications.

“I don’t know the finances of FSG but if you go by the model in which Liverpool do their business, it’s just not what we do,” the presenter warned on the Footballer’s Football Podcast (via BBC Sport).

“We buy players on the cusp of becoming great players, they get moulded by Klopp and then he moulds them into great players. We don’t buy the finished article and it would just send everything about our club into disarray if you were to bring in someone of that magnitude on those wages, because what do you do then? What do you do with Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah? They’re going to want even more wages and then it’s just going to mess everything up.

“As much as I would love Kylian Mbappe at Liverpool, it just annoys me that it gets put in the press every single transfer window.”

The World Cup-winning midfielder has been in prolific form in Ligue this term, notching 22 goals in 23 appearances this year.
