Ben Doak is ‘hungry for more’ at Liverpool after a stunning first season.

The former Celtic starlet has had a 12 months he will never forget after landing a top team debut in the League

 

Cup, making his English Premier League bow and having a number of games on the bench and to top it all off penned professional terms with the club.

The Scotland Under-21 international was a standout in the UEFA Youth League campaign for the Reds and he found the net twice against Rangers in the competition. That sort of form and in the Premier League 2 has had Jurgen Klopp raving about the talented teen he has on his books and just this week hailed him as a ‘special boy’.

The Liverpool boss said: “Ben Doak, obviously nice signs, he’s with us in training again. Special boy, really confident, has something nobody else delivers really, this kind of dribbling, this kind of straight-forward bravery, all these kind of things.”

Ange Postecoglou handed the youngster his Celtic debut with appearances off the bench against Dundee United and Rangers but that wasn’t enough to convince him to remain in Glasgow and his decision has been justified at this stage.

He’s now ready to kick on even more as he summed up his first year at Anfield. He took to Instagram and wrote: “What a first season at this club. Hungry for more.”

However, moves in Liverpool’s academy are also bubbling away nicely and according to multiple reports, 16-year-old forward, Elijah Gift, is poised to return to Spain.

 

The lively right winger was born in Corella in northern Spain, though found his way into Liverpool’s youth ranks by way of Huddersfield Town.

 

Gift has featured 17 times in Liverpool’s Under-18s this term, notching three goals and three assists along the way.

 

However, he’s now in line to return to Spain by joining Athletic Club who will pay around €1m for his signature.

 

That’s according to Bilbao-based outlet, El Correo, as well as trusted transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.

 

El Correo were first to break the news, reporting an agreement between Athletic and Liverpool for the teenage winger is ‘very close’.

 

A €1m fee (approx. £870,000) will make its way to Merseyside and Romano subsequently shed further light on the move.

 

The journalist tweeted Gift will join Athletic on a “permanent deal” and sign a “long-term” contract.

 

Gift is set to undergo a medical in Bilbao and the Spanish side have already agreed terms with Liverpool over the move.
