Bayern Munich ‘fighting’ for Tottenham star as they aim to get Levy ‘talking’ with new bid

potential deal with Levy slightly more receptive to selling Kane abroad for the right fee, although there had been speculation that the Tottenham striker wanted to remain in England to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.

After having their first offer of £60m plus add-ons – which took the total value of the deal to just shy of £70m – rejected, the Daily Mail claim Bayern Munich are ‘poised to make another bid’ to Tottenham.

The report adds: ‘They believe an offer around £80m plus add-ons could get Daniel Levy talking with Kane indicating he would be interested.’

It is understood that the Bavarian club’s president Uli Hoeness thinks a deal for the 29-year-old is ‘too expensive’ despite his impressive goalscoring record.

But former Bayern technical director Michael Reschke reckons Kane has to be their priority this window as they look to win the Champions League.

Reschke told the Daily Mail: ‘Kane is one of the top three number nines in the world with Haaland and Mbappe. If he joins Bayern he gives them a much greater chance of winning the Champions League.

‘That is the reason Bayern are fighting for him. Bayern can’t compete in bidding wars for the top players but they are still alluring to some if they show conviction.’

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also brought an update on the potential deal yesterday and claimed Bayern “want to try again” for Kane.

Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: “As we know, Bayern submitted a bid earlier in the week for Harry Kane – €70m plus add-ons, which is absolutely not enough to convince Tottenham to sell. There was not even a negotiation, Spurs said no straight away and it was not even considered as something concrete or serious.

“Daniel Levy’s intention remains the same – there is no intention to sell the player, and there will be a direct conversation between Kane and Ange Postecoglou to discuss the project and how to continue together.

“However, the reality is that Kane is open to a move to Bayern. At the moment, my understanding is he hasn’t told Tottenham that he wants to leave, but the feeling on Bayern’s side is that Kane is open to making a move.

“He knows that Thomas Tuchel really wants him, so it’s now just about an agreement between the clubs. Bayern have no intention to give up, they are prepared to attack the situation again because they want to sign an important striker this summer.

“They’ve had contacts as well for Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani, but now they want to try again for Kane.

“It could take some time, but they will submit a second proposal, we’ll see if it’s a verbal proposal or an official bid, but for sure they will try again. It’s not going to be easy because Tottenham want to fight to keep the player, but let’s see how it goes in what is sure to be a crucial period for Spurs this summer.”
