Tottenham handed Brennan Johnson injury boost as return date mapped out

B

rennan Johnson hopes to give Tottenham a timely injury lift by returning from his hamstring lay-off for their first game back after the international break.

Johnson limped off against Arsenal two weeks ago, missed Saturday’s win over Liverpool and has not been called up to the Wales squad.

The £47.5million deadline day signing will miss Saturday’s trip to Luton but is targeting a comeback in time to face Fulham on October 23.

His return would be a major boost for Spurs, who fear being without Manor Solomon for at least a couple of months after he suffered a knee injury in training.

Spurs are also without injured wide players Ivan Perisic and Bryan Gil, as well as Rodrigo Bentancur, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon.

Johnson looked bright against Arsenal on his first Spurs start and will boost their forward options ahead of an important run of games after the international break.

After hosting Fulham, Spurs play Crystal Palace before a huge game against Chelsea on November 6, when Mauricio Pochettino will return to the club as an opposition manager for the first time. They then play Wolves before another international break in November.

Johnson will miss Wales’ crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers against Croatia and Armenia.

Fabio Paratici is a huge fan of ‘extraordinary’ £17m Spurs summer signing

Fabio Paratici was a fan of Guglielmo Vicario long before his move to Tottenham Hotspur and even made enquiries about the goalkeeper in the past.

That is according a report from The Athletic, which notes that the Italian also played a role in Spurs signing Alejo Veliz in the summer transfer window.

There is no question that Guglielmo Vicario has done a remarkable job since moving to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer.

It is surely fair to say that he is not a player many Spurs fans would have been talking about before the window – despite it being abundantly clear just how important it was that a new goalkeeper was signed.

Fabio Paratici was already an admirer of Guglielmo Vicario

Vicario has been a revelation since his £17 million move. He appears to be perfect for the system Ange Postecoglou wants his side to play.

But it seems that Fabio Paratici may deserve some of the credit for his arrival. The Athletic reports that Paratici was an admirer of Vicario for some time before his move. He had even made enquiries during his time as the club’s director of football.

The report adds that he also played a role in Alejo Veliz joining Tottenham in the summer. Veliz has largely been signed as one for the future. But there is plenty of excitement surrounding the young forward.

Tottenham’s transfer business now reaping rewards

As The Athletic’s report notes, Fabio Paratici’s time at Tottenham can now be reflected upon in a much more positive manner. And with that, he deserves credit if he did play some part in the club pursuing the likes of Vicario and Veliz.

It has been a really exciting start to the campaign for Tottenham. And in Vicario, Spurs potentially have a player who could be their number one for many years to come.

He has been ‘extraordinary‘ so far. And there is no reason why he cannot continue to get better.

WEST HAM UNITED TARGET REALLY FANCIES JOINING SPURS IN 2024

Al Ittihad winger Jota is attracting major Premier League interest but would allegedly prefer to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United are all monitoring the situation of Jota at Al Ittihad.

That is according to 90Min, who claim that Jota could be on the move in the January transfer window.

Jota only joined Al Ittihad in a £25million move from Celtic back in July, but is already surplus to requirements in Saudi Arabia.

Jota now wants to rip up his contract and leave Al Ittihad for free, paving the way for a return to Europe.

The Portuguese wide man wouldn’t be able to play until January but linking up with a new club and preparing for the second half of the season may make sense.

Premier League interest in Jota as Tottenham links continue

If Jota does leave Al Ittihad – whether that’s now or in January – then he won’t be short of suitors.

It’s suggested that Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United all fancy bringing Jota to England.

The most obvious link is to Tottenham Hotspur though and Spurs are believed to be interested too.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou worked with Jota at Celtic and this situation in Saudi Arabia could pave the way for a reunion in North London.

It’s stated that Jota ‘would ultimately love’ to sign for Tottenham and work with Postecoglou again, putting Spurs ahead of their Premier League rivals.

Tottenham may well need another winger in January

Jota would surely love to work with Postecoglou again after the Australian called him a ‘special player’ during their time together in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old racked up 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 games under Postecoglou and ultimately made himself a star to earn that move to Saudi Arabia.

Tottenham have now seen Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon go down with injuries, whilst Son Heung-min is playing as a striker this season.

That may mean there is room for another winger in January, especially with Perisic potentially heading out to Hajduk Split.

Jota could be the ideal addition for Spurs, given his ability to produce magic and his understanding of Postecoglou’s style.
