Andy Robertson slaps Ben Doak in training, he immediately regretted it,so he was suspended to play today match

Robertson and Doak trained in Liverpool this week ahead of flying out to Austria for tonight’s Europa League clash against LASK.

The Scottish left-back, who scored in his side’s 3-1 win over Wolves last weekend, is set to be rested for their opening European match of the season.

Doak, on the other hand, could be in line for a spot in the XI as Jurgen Klopp may make wholesale changes.

But Robertson and Doak trained together and were involved in a brilliant exchange in training.

A video shows the 29-year-old ‘slapping’ his 17-year-old counterpart.

Robertson accidentally landed a stinging slap on Doak and immediately regretted his strike. He cut a shocked figure and apologised straight away. Check it out below:

Doak could feature for Liverpool against LASK, having impressed for Scotland in an U21s game against Spain earlier this month.

He’s already made an impression among his teammates, with Virgil van Dijk speaking glowingly about the budding star.

“I remember when he came on against Villa away last year, and he did that stepover and went past the full back,” he said.

“He’s very exciting, very direct, one-on-one. I call him a Tasmanian Devil with the way he is buzzing around, he’s just so quick. If his decision making gets better – and he has all the time in the world for that – then he could definitely be one for the future.”

The highlights from Ben Doak’s performance against Spain have gone viral.

17-year-old Doak was in action for Scotland U21 as they took on Spain U21 in the 2025 U21 Euro qualification.

In what was a cagey affair, Spain eventually came out 1-0 winners thanks to a goal from Benat Turrientes in the 83rd minute.

However, despite being on the losing side, Doak’s performance has attracted a lot of attention.

In what was a cagey affair, Spain eventually came out 1-0 winners thanks to a goal from Benat Turrientes in the 83rd minute.

However, despite being on the losing side, Doak’s performance has attracted a lot of attention.

The Liverpool winger showed his pace and skills as he was direct in his play, often running at the Spain defence in order to drive his team forward.

At one stage, Doak produced a stunning turn to get away from his marker in the middle of the park.

The young winger could have got himself on the scoresheet but his near post shot was saved by the Spanish goalkeeper.

Scotland U21 manager Scot Gemmill said: “It was an exceptional performance from Ben Doak. I would even add that’s there more to come from him.

“He’s not fully match fit at the moment because of his limited minutes as he is playing for such a good club. Imagine a fully fit Ben Doak!”

He added: “I thought it was a really top performance and hopefully everyone saw that.”

Overall, it was a very encouraging performance from the 17-year-old as he looks to get more game time at Liverpool this season.

It is well documented that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp rates Doak highly after he brought him on to replace Mohamed Salah during the Reds’ opening Premier League match away at Chelsea.

During Liverpool’s pre-season campaign, Klopp praised Doak, he said: “We saw the kids how good they were. James never played a six before and today he played there and it was so nice to watch, to be honest. Bobby first half did really well.

“Ben Doak, oh my God, it’s much fun to watch these kids. Calum I’ve known him only nine days, he was injured before and now he was there. Koumas came on, Conor Bradley really good.”

Liverpool have agreed a brand new deal with Mohamed Salah’s potential successor, Ben Doak.
