Roy Hodgson’s future has been up for debate all week, with Crystal Palace believed to be looking for a replacement.
Currently on a horrid run of form which has seen four wins in 17, Crystal Palace need something to change or they’ll risk being dragged right into a relegation battle.
So after a week which saw several managers linked – including Oliver Glasner – with making the Selhurst Park move, it seems Roy Hodgson is to keep his job for one more game at least.
This is made more likely as journalist Alan Nixon replies to a fan on this subject, here’s what he said.
Roy Hodgson’s departure is not imminent
On X this afternoon, Nixon has been busy refuting questions on whether Hodgson has walked out of Palace, due to some speculation which surfaced.
To one fan who asked: “Has Roy gone then?”, he simply replied “No”. This shuts down the murmurings around the fanbase to the contrary.
If Hodgson had walked, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna was said to be about to be appointed. On this, Nixon also strongly denied anything was happening in response to a fan asking about McKenna. He once more shared a one-word verdict as he wrote, “Nope”.
He followed this up with a message stating, “Nothing yet” to a similar question which suggests he might know something.
Whether he goes today or not, Hodgson is on the verge
This week has seen so much smoke around Hodgson’s possible departure that there must be a fire somewhere.
With Monday night in mind, it feels very likely that could be the deciding game for Hodgson in which an embarrassing loss will be unforgivable.
With several top coaches already linked with the job, there must be some level of interest from Palace with possible enquiries to the managers they are keen on.
So while today may not be the day, if Monday is bad, it could be very close after all. MORE NEWS
