Jamie Carragher has aimed a brutal dig at Tottenham after joking that Liverpool’s defeat to the north London side should be replayed.
Luis Diaz incorrectly had a goal chalked off for offside during the Reds’ heartbreaking 2-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Saturday.
The PGMOL have since released the VAR audio of the lapse in communication, with fans spotting one damning moment from the incident.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has subsequently insisted that the game to be replayed.

Speaking ahead of his side’s Europa League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday, he said: “Something like this never happened, so that is why I think a replay is the right thing to do.”

Asked whether Liverpool had asked – or would ask – the Premier League for a replay, the German boss replied: “At this stage we are still going through the information we have.”
He added: “The audio didn’t change it at all. It is an obvious mistake. There should be solutions for that. The outcome should be a replay. But it probably won’t happen.
ADVERT
“The argument against that would be it opens the gates. It is unprecedented. I’m used to wrong and difficult decisions, but something like this never happened.”
Carragher jokingly agreed that the game should be replayed. After being asked for his opinion by Tottenham fan account @thespursweb, the former Liverpool defender replied: “Get the replay on! Same teams & officials!! The drama would be incredible!”

@thespursweb then joked: “Let’s replay the Champions League final first!” before Carragher exclaimed: “Deal! Spurs don’t win Champions League finals!
However, the Sky Sports pundit later clarified that the game shouldn’t actually be replayed, tweeting: “I don’t think there will/should be a replay, but can we stop talking about other mistakes in other games!
“This isn’t the same, officials give decisions they believe to be right, this didn’t happen. It’s unprecedented, hence the fall out.”

Ben Foster claims Sky are ‘in bed’ with VAR in astonishing rant, fans think he’s spot on
Ben Foster has made a quite astonishing claim about VAR in a rant about the technology in the wake of the Liverpool controversy on Saturday.
Liverpool had both Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Spurs but they were most aggrieved about Luis Diaz’s goal being wrongly disallowed for offside.
The linesman flagged when the former Porto man slotted home after being played in behind by Mo Salah.

The lines drew by VAR showed that Diaz was in fact played onside by Cristian Romero but in an almighty, mistake, officials at Stockley Park believed the on-field call was to give the goal and the check was complete.
By the time play had restarted and they had realised the error, it was too late and so it was decided intervention was not possible.
Liverpool, having issued a brutal statement, are set to receive the audio exchange from PGMOL.
Sky Sports requested to have access to the feed but were not successful in their attempts.
ADVERT
Former Manchester United and England goalkeeper Foster reacted furiously to the incident and claimed that Sky are “in bed” with VAR and were told not to highlight the gaffe.
“The bit that I found really disappointing about this Luis Diaz goal is that they never showed a replay of it – well they showed one didn’t they,” the ex Wrexham goalkeeper said on the latest episode of The Football Fill-In.
“They showed one very quick replay as soon as it happened and the game was moved on already. It’s like the game was already restarting and I’m thinking, ‘Well that was quick’ and that they must be double sure.
ADVERT
“Every image we saw, we thought he’s onside. They didn’t show another replay for the rest of the half, not one replay.
“And then at half-time they didn’t talk about it – until 10 seconds before the start of the second half.
“That tells me that Sky are in bed with the people at VAR, they’re in bed with them. Because they must have got straight on the phone and said, ‘Do not highlight the fact we have c*cked up here’ – do not show it, do not talk about it and do not badmouth us.
“I guarantee that’s what’s happened, so what’s why Sky were under direct orders to not say a word about it.”
ADVERT
PGMOL acknowledged the “significant human error”, which has resulted in VAR officials Darren England and Dan Cook being stood down for the next round of Premier League fixtures.

Tottenham vs Liverpool would be replayed if Simon Hooper had overturned VAR blunder

Tottenham vs Liverpool would have had to been REPLAYED if Simon Hooper had overturned the VAR error.
Saturday’s clash was marred with VAR controversy following an inexplicable incident in the first-half when Luis Diaz scored a legitimate goal – only for the strike to be ruled out.
Hooper was told that Diaz’s goal should have been allowed, but the information from Darren England, who was on VAR duty, came too late for the match referee to reverse his decision.
England told Hooper “check complete” in the mistaken belief that the Liverpool winger had not been flagged offside.
ADVERT
The referee restarted play with a Spurs free-kick.
However, it was only when the ball next went out of play that Hooper was informed of the mistake, which would have seen Liverpool open the scoring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Under the International FA Board protocols on VAR use, there was nothing Hooper could have done.
ADVERT
The rules state: “If play has stopped and been restarted, the referee may not undertake a ‘review’ except for a case of mistaken identity or for a potential sending-off offence relating to violent conduct, spitting, biting or extremely offensive, insulting and/or abusive action(s).”
Had Hooper gone back to the incident and awarded Jurgen Klopp’s side the goal, it would have been fundamental breach of the protocols and the Laws of the Game.
Spurs would have protested the decision, and the breach would have resulted in the FA forcing them to agree with the Premier League that the fixture would be declared null and void, enforcing a replay of the league fixture.

BREAKING: Liverpool issue brutal response to PGMOL after costly VAR error against Tottenham
Chris Byfield
Liverpool have issued a response to the PGMOL after the refereeing body admitted to a costly VAR error in the Reds’ encounter against Tottenham.
Jurgen Klopp’s side released a statement after the PGMOL admitted Luis Diaz’s goal at Tottenham was incorrectly disallowed for offside after the VAR mistakenly believed the on-field decision had been to award the goal.
The referee body admitted after Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Liverpool that “a significant human error occurred” when Diaz’s strike was ruled out, adding: “This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention.”
Indeed, it was initially thought that VAR Darren England had failed to check whether a Tottenham defender had played Diaz onside by drawing the on-screen lines.
ADVERT
However the PGMOL claimed that VAR incorrectly thought the on-field decision was that a goal had been awarded, when in fact it had been the opposite. This resulted in England, despite realising that Diaz was onside, announcing “check complete” and the goal being ruled out.
In a statement, Liverpool said on Sunday that the explanation for the decision was “unacceptable” and that they planned to explore a “range of options available” amid sporting integrity having been undermined.
The club statement read: “We fully accept the pressures that match officials work under but these pressures are supposed to be alleviated, not exacerbated, by the existence and implementation of VAR.

ADVERT
“It is therefore unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention.
“That such failings have already been categorised as “significant human error” is also unacceptable. Any and all outcomes should be established only by the review and with full transparency.
“This is vital for the reliability of future decision-making as it applies to all clubs with learnings being used to make improvements to processes in order to ensure this kind of situation cannot occur again.
“In the meantime, we will explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution.”
ADVERT
There was less than 40 seconds between Diaz’s shot hitting the back of the net and play being restarted. Furthermore, there was less than 10 seconds between TV viewers being shown a VAR review was taking place and the check being completed.
Just two minutes after the incident, Heung-Min Son netted the game’s opening goal.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher question Aaron Ramsdale’s reaction to David Raya’s stunning save

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have questioned Aaron Ramsdale’s reaction to David Raya’s stunning save.
On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal hosted North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal twice went ahead after a Cristian Romero own goal and a Bukayo Saka penalty but they were denied three points by two Son Heung Min goals as the match ended 2-2.

Heading into the weekend, the main talking point was whether Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will change his goalkeeper.
Having started Ramsdale for the majority of the season, the Englishman was dropped against Everton earlier in the month, then subsequently for their Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven.
Against Spurs, Arteta opted for Raya again and the Spaniard made a brilliant save to deny Brennan Johnson in the first half.
On the back of that save, Ramsdale was caught on camera applauding the man who took his starting spot.

However, the authenticity of Ramsdale’s reaction has been questioned by both Neville and Caragher.
Speaking on commentary, former Manchester United defender Neville said: “What must Aaron Ramsdale be thinking? He just fetches it behind him, reaches out.
“He’s saying ‘Well done mate’. He’s either a top individual or a good actor!”
ADVERT
Whilst Carragher said after the match: “I thought I was at the Oscars, you know when someone loses the OScar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person.
“I mean I was laughing when I saw that. He’s absolutely devastated.”
Arteta admitted before the Spurs match that he understands Ramsdale’s frustration.
ADVERT
He said: “I understand [his frustration] and it’s very difficult for every player.
“He’s been very supportive and good around the place and that’s what I expect from every single player because when you’re on the field there is someone else who’s not so it works both ways. So far he’s been very good.”
Arsenal will be back in action on Wednesday as they take on Brentford in the EFL Cup.
