Emery signed Ceballos on loan for Arsenal four years ago. The Spanish midfielder made 49 Premier League appearances across two seasons, setting up five goals but not scoring any. It is said that he would have a “prominent role” and “command in the midfield” at Villa
What BirminghamLive says : “Given his injury problems this season, and lack of goal scoring prowess from midfield, a move for Ceballos could be seen as something of a risk by those watching from afar.
“We have seen, this summer in particular, that Emery has a heavy influence on transfers coming into the club. Ceballos is a player the boss is pushing for, by all accounts, and already has experience of working with him at a Premier League club.
“The midfielder’s working relationship with Emery and experience in Europe make a potential transfer a risk well worth taking for Villa. Ceballos has 19 Champions League appearances, and played 18 Europa League games for Arsenal.
“That means he is familiar with the Thursday-Sunday schedule that European football brings to Premier League clubs, and 120 appearances over four seasons at Real Madrid is certainly nothing to be sniffed at. This should be a no-brainer for the Villa hierarchy, especially on an initial loan with an option, rather than an obligation.”
