Trent Alexander-Arnold makes a no-nonsense confession about the current mood in the Liverpool dressing room
Liverpool secured five Premier League victories in a row with victory over Fulham on Wednesday night, but Trent Alexander-Arnold showed there was still disappointment in the dressing room.
Trent Alexander-Arnold addresses the media
Trent Alexander-Arnold insists the mood in the Anfield dressing room is “a bit low” as Liverpool have little to play for in the final weeks of the Premier League season.
unbeaten in seven games since the goalless draw at Stamford Bridge in early April.
But despite the apparent progress made in recent weeks, as Liverpool staged a late Champions League qualifier, Alexander-Arnold admits there is still lingering disappointment with how this season has gone. – and even accepts that there is a chance for an underdog to qualify for Europe. the first competition is not “real” enough
We want to be in title races or real top 4 at this stage of the season. We’re not there at the moment and that’s why the mood might be a bit depressed,” Alexander-Arnold told the BBC after Wednesday’s win.
“It reflects where we are in the league and why we have to play on the left. It’s not where we want to be and it’s as a club with players, staff and fans.”
Although he played in his revamped midfield role against the West Londoners, the 24-year-old believes there are still many areas where he and his team-mates can improve, as a Late rally from Marco Silva’s side highlighted Alisson’s exploits forcing Becker to secure all three points.
“We won the match and that’s all that matters,” added Alexander-Arnold. “They are a good team and they have performed well this season.
“We dominated a lot in the first half and they had counterattacks, but then they grew in the second half. It becomes a bit of a pattern. We couldn’t keep our good starts. That’s something we’ll probably have to look into.
Despite having played two more games, Liverpool are currently four points behind Manchester United, who sit fourth and last in Champions League qualifying. Erik Ten Hag’s side face a tough trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday night.

Liverpool Vs Brentford: Match Preview And Injury News
Liverpool will take on Brentford on Saturday, April 6, with a kickoff time of 5:30pm. Can the Reds solidify their spot in the European qualification places?
The Reds will be without Thiago Alcantara, Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajcetic and Roberto Firmino for their match against the Bees. Additionally, Naby Keita is a major doubt – he is nearing a return to full fitness, but the game at the weekend will likely come too soon for him.
In their last game, Liverpool defeated Fulham by a score of 1-0. The Reds were awarded a contentious penalty, which was duly slotted home by Mohamed Salah – the Cottagers failed to respond, giving Liverpool all three points.
Brentford were also victorious in their last game, as they beat moneybags Nottingham Forest by a score of 2-1. The Bees trailed for most of the game – nevertheless, they staged a late comeback, as Ivan Toney and Josh Dasilva found the back of the net to give the London club a precious three points.
When the two teams last met, back in January, Brentford sprung a surprise as they beat Liverpool by a score of 3-1. The Reds’ only goal of the game was scored by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – can they gain a modicum of vengeance on Saturday evening?

Klopp ‘contacts’ Real Madrid star as Liverpool ‘ask’ Perez to consider ‘unexpected’ sale for…
According to reports, Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has made ‘contact’ with Antonio Rudiger with the view to signing him from Real Madrid.
Rudiger joined Chelsea in 2017 for an initial fee of around £29m from Serie A outfit AS Roma.
The 30-year-old was an integral player at Stamford Bridge as he played over 200 times for the Blues in five seasons. He helped them win the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.
The Germany international joined Real Madrid last year on a free transfer after his deal at Chelsea expired. He has featured prominently for the Spanish giants this season, making over 40 appearances across all competitions.
It was claimed last month that Liverpool are going to be in the market for a new centre-back this summer as they intend to make at least five signings.
Liverpool’s interest in defenders comes amid the worrying form of their current crop of players, who have suffered a decline in form under Klopp.
Spanish outlet Nacional are reporting that ‘Liverpool have asked Florentino Perez if he is willing to negotiate an unexpected sale’ of Rudiger this summer.
The report points out that Rudiger ‘starred in another disastrous performance’ as Real Madrid were beaten 2-0 by Real Sociedad last weekend. Due to showings like this, the defender is ‘far from meeting expectations’.
Real Madrid are not giving up on Rudiger as they are ‘continuing to be patient’, but it is being indicated that he is ‘not untouchable’ and ‘they could study the offers that arrive for him’.

In the report, Liverpool are the only club mentioned as a possible destination for Rudiger. Klopp apparently ‘does not forget his compatriot, whom he already tried to convince to reject Real Madrid and join his project’ at Liverpool last year.
The Liverpool boss has ‘contacted’ Rudiger if he would ‘consider’ a return to the Premier League and he has ‘guaranteed’ the defender a ‘key role’.
Liverpool will ‘go on the attack’ if Real Madrid are willing to sell at a ‘reasonable figure’. The player is ‘very much interested’ in this move but the English club ‘will not do anything crazy for a player who turned 30 a couple of months ago’. The report adds.
‘Liverpool want to get to know Madrid’s intentions closely. Klopp is not willing to invest more than 40 million euros , and will not raise this offer.
‘It could be one of Florentino Pérez’s surprise sales.’
