Euro Paper Talk:Liverpool drop Andre interest
Liverpool drop Andre interest as true release clause revealed
Liverpool are highly unlikely to sign Andre Trindade after Fluminense knocked back a €30m (£25.5m) proposal, Anfield Watch can confirm.
The midfielder was the subject of an offer from Liverpool but, as expected, it was turned down by the Brazilian club, who intend to keep Andre for the remainder of their Copa Libertadores pursuit.
We are told that it is improbable that the Reds will go back for the 22-year-old in January, when he would be available, while sources have informed us that his release clause is actually in advance of €80m (£68m), rather than the €40m (£34m) that has been suggested elsewhere.
Fluminense consider Andre as one of their star players and are refusing to let him leave this summer, as they eye Copa Libertadores glory for the first time in their history. They face Olimpia on 25 August in the first leg of the competition’s quarter finals.
However, the Rio-based club are open to accepting a fee now with a view of letting their star youngster depart for a new club in the subsequent window.
Liverpool appear to be content with the purchase of Wataru Endo for the ‘number six’ role and will not to be making any new additions for that area of the pitch.
It’s clear that money is in the bank for Liverpool, following their failed move for Moises Caicedo, but whether they intent to push on with more signings for the midfield now or bide their time for the January window is another matter.
The defence is another area that needs strengthening, but other than their failed pursuit of Levi Colwill, who signed fresh terms with Chelsea, there have not been many other targets named for that position.
Liverpool have brought in Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig and Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, in a bid to bolster the centre of the park. However, the exits of Jordon Henderson and Fabinho arguably leaves them still understaffed for the midfield.
Liverpool face Newcastle at St James’ Park on Sunday. The Reds earned two Premier League wins over the Magpies last season.

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool have directly told club they will not bid for their midfielder
Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat this summer, and Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest.
The Reds have been rumoured to be interested in a number of midfielders since missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Amrabat is one of them, but Romano has claimed on Kick that a move is not on the cards.
Fabrizio Romano shares latest on Sofyan Amrabat to Liverpool links
Sofyan Amrabat has been on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs since the World Cup, and Liverpool became the latest team to be linked with a move to sign him earlier this month.
Fabrizio Romano revealed recently that the Reds made contact with the player and his club to enquire what it would take to sign him.
Manchester United have also been heavily linked with a move to sign Amrabat, and if Romano’s latest update is to be believed, the Red Devils no longer have to worry about Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The journalist has claimed that Liverpool have directly informed Fiorentina that they will not be making a move to sign Amrabat this month.
Romano said: “From what I heard, Liverpool had a conversation on the player’s and club’s side for Sofyan Amrabat, It was last week.
But then, they called after 24 hours and said ‘we are no longer interested, were not going to make any bid or start any concrete negotiations’.
“So, Amrabat and Liverpool was never something true or something concrete – it was just a request of information and nothing else.
It always seemed unlikely that Liverpool would sign Amrabat.
We’re not saying he’s a bad player, but he’s not exactly the same profile as someone like Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia – two players Liverpool were extremely keen on signing.
Now, it will be interesting to see who Liverpool will go after. Wataru Endo fills the immediate void in the middle of the park, but it would be smart on the Reds’ part to bring in another midfielder.
Whether that will happen in the next week or so, however, remains to be seen.
