Liverpool have just held positive talks to sign £25m player, Jurgen Klopp really wants him

Liverpool have reportedly held positive talks with Bayern Munich over a move for midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, with the outlet claiming that Gravenberch is high on Jurgen Klopp’s list of preferred targets.

Liverpool have endured a frustrating summer transfer window so far after getting off to such a positive start by snapping up Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Reds have attempted to bring in a new midfield-enforcer after selling both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

But after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, the club moved to bring in former Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo.

Liverpool are expected to bring in at least one more fresh face in the middle of the park and it seems that could well be Ryan Gravenberch

Liverpool hold positive Gravenberch talks

The Mail reports that Liverpool have held ‘more productive’ talks with Bayern over Gravenberch.

The 21-year-old is wanted by Klopp and the Reds are looking to agree a fee with the Bundesliga giants.

It’s noted that Gravenberch is open to leaving Munich this summer as he searches for regular playing time

Gravenberch only completed a switch to Bayern last summer as he made the move from Ajax after impressing in Holland.

The midfielder is reportedly valued at around £26 million, but Bayern have been unwilling to sell up until this point.

The Dutchman has been labelled a ‘dominant’ midfielder, but he has tended to fare better in a more advanced role at both Ajax and Bayern.

Nevertheless, as Liverpool and Bayern are locked in talks, it would surely suggest the German champions are willing to consider selling the youngster.

Tim Sherwood is ‘sure’ Liverpool will end up signing £20m midfielder

Tim Sherwood

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood believes that Liverpool will sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich this summer.

The Dutchman’s name has been a recurrence throughout the summer whilst speculation has latched onto the Liverpool midfield rebuild, although rumours went particularly cold once Alexis Mac Allister and Dominic Szoboszlai had come through the entrance whilst Jordan Henderson and Fabinho’s exits were the talk of the town.

However after rebuffs in the battles for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, Gravenberch has once again been tipped to join most recent signing Wataru Endo in leaving the Bundesliga for Merseyside.

A large part of the midfielder’s demands for the upcoming season were to do with game time. In his maiden year at Bayern he only started three matches, leading to an interview with ESPN during June’s international matches in which he stated he does ‘not want another year like that’.

Already provided a hint at what the new season will look like having sat on the bench for entirety of the German champions’ league opener on Friday, a move could well be on the cards. Sherwood is one that certainly feels strongly that his time in Germany won’t last much longer.

Assessing Liverpool’s title chances on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday two days ago, the 54-year-old said: “If you looked at their squad at the moment, can they be the champions of the Premier League again? Absolutely not.

“But anything can happen in the next couple of weeks.

“I am sure Ryan Gravenberch will go in there, the midfield player from Bayern. Hasn’t played since he has been there.”

The rumours linking the 21-year-old have picked up again in recent days with journalist Rudy Galetti suggesting the player his moving up the Reds’ list of midfield targets before the window closes.
