Reports:Liverpool has signed incredible defender who is better than Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool  boss Jurgen Klopp to sign ‘incredible’ defender and play him alongside Virgil van Dijk for the RedsPublished 2 days ago on July 27, 2023By soccer4u

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly looking for a central defensive partner for Virgil van Dijk, with Torino target Perr Schuurs.

That’s according to Italian outlet Toro.it, who claim Crystal Palace are also showing a strong interest in signing Schuur this summer.

The Reds have decided to beef up Jurgen Klopp’s squad this summer with the additions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool have officially lost captain Jordan Henderson after the midfielder announced his move to Saudi Arabia yesterday.

While Klopp is expected to aim to add more midfield, Liverpool are also considering signing another centre-back. Liverpool have been tipped to be interested in Perr Schuurs as the former Ajax man looks set to leave Turin.

And it looks like Klopp could recruit the 23-year-old to link him to Van Dijk

Klopp wants Schuurs
Toro reports that Schuurs could leave Turin this summer after making comments that cast doubt on his future.

The defender admits he is unsure if he will stay in Italy beyond the summer, as Liverpool and Palace have expressed deep interest.

Indeed, the paper notes that Klopp has identified Schuurs as a possible defensive partner for Van Dijk.

Torino are expected to demand around £34m for the centre-back, who has ‘frozen’ negotiations with Liverpool and Palace.

It’s no secret that Liverpool struggled defensively last season, with Van Dijk playing far less than his usual best form.

But their struggles in the midfield certainly contributed to the lack of unity at the back.

Of course, Liverpool will be hoping Van Dijk will return to his best form next season, while Ibrahima Konate has also shown promise. But bringing in another centre-back like Schuurs would be a smart move.

Joe Gomez and Joel Matip failed to impress last season and Schuurs would be an ‘incredible’ option for Klopp.

Report: Liverpool are set to submit an improved bid for FC Barcelona and Denmark star

Liverpool are reportedly making a better offer for FC Barcelona and Danish centre-back Andreas Christensen in the coming days.

Liverpool have been focused on signing new midfielders this summer. Having already spent £95m to sign Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, they are now looking to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton.

Jurgen Klopp, however, is also looking for reinforcements in defence. The coach is reportedly looking for a new right-back and centre-back. Christensen has already enjoyed a stellar spell at Chelsea in the Premier League. He made 161 appearances for the Blues, helping them win the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.

The 27-year-old joined Barcelona on a free transfer last summer but is linked with a return to the Premier League before next season. It was reported in May that Man Utd were considering a move for the veteran defender.

Spanish newspaper Nacional are now reporting that a new centre-back is being sought following a ‘personal request from Klopp’. According to the report, Liverpool’s €30million opening for Christensen was “immediately rejected” by Barcelona’s hierarchy.

Liverpool intend to “try their luck again” and “will increase the offer to 50 million euros”. This new offering will reportedly roll out “in the coming days.”

The England outfit hope this new offer will entice Barcelona to ‘sacrifice’ Christensen and ‘nothing can be ruled out at the moment’

While a transfer from Christensen is unrealistic, a deal with Torino defender Perr Schuurs is far more feasible.

The 23-year-old shone for the Serie A outfit last season after completing his move from Eredivisie giants Ajax.

Liverpool have been closely linked with him over the past month, but a “deal” was reportedly reached last week ahead of a potential move to Crystal Palace.

Talks of a move to Selhurst Park have stalled in recent days, but Italian outlet Toro now say Crystal Palace and Liverpool “won’t let him go”. they added. Schuurs has told fans he is not sure he will stay given interest from Premier League clubs.

“Especially Liverpool, who are looking for a defender to join Van Dijk, and Crystal Palace.

“Torino, however, will not let him leave unless indispensable offers are made: the price set by the president of the granata is 40 million euros and at the moment this figure has frozen the negotiations with the two English clubs”.
