Report claims David Moyes has £26 million striker lined up as a direct replacement for Michail Antonio

A report has claimed that David Moyes has £26 million striker lined up as a direct replacement for Michail Antonio this summer.

Signing a new centre-forward will be a key priority for Moyes this summer, with Hammers duo Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings having failed to impress and Antonio reportedly set for an exit from the club.

Boulaye Dia is someone who has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium –

And it seems as though Moyes could be ready to accelerate his interest in signing the Senegal international this summer…

Gazzetta dello Sport reckon that Boulaye Dia is in line to replace the 33-year-old Jamaica international at the London Stadium this summer.

Salernitana are looking to activate their purchase option on Dia, before selling him on for a huge profit.

The Italian side are said to be looking for around €30 million (£26 million) for the 26-year-old according to a report from Corriere dello Sport (print edition May 31st, page 22

I think that the Senegalese forward is a decent player, but we shouldn’t be paying anywhere near £26 million for him.

I would prefer to pay double that for Tammy Abraham. We could have paid less than that amount for Terem Moffi in January and he really would have been the perfect Michail Antonio replacement.

Having said that, I do think that Dia would be an upgrade on Micky, and if we can get him for £12-15 million, it would be smart business from the club.

Much will depend on whether or not Antonio actually ends up leaving this summer. I believe Moyes should be looking to move on from he 33-year-old, and Dia wouldn’t be a bad signing at all. I just think that the Scot should be a lot more ambitious with his targets.

West Ham have only just sold Arthur Masuaku, now he could join Sheffield United
The 29-year-old is a surprise summer transfer target for the newly promoted Blades according to a report from Tavkim.

Word of advice for Sheffield United – you really don’t want to be signing Masuaku in my opinion.

Getting rid of the 29-year-old on a permanent deal this summer was really good business from the Hammers.

He never made any kind of positive impact in East London, and was regularly a weak-link for us when he played.

Arthur Masuaku’s poor concentration levels and shocking positional awareness cost West Ham dearly on numerous occasions over the years.

I’m delighted that we managed to get a fee for him, even though it represented a £4 million loss on what we paid for him seven years ago

And if Sheffield United end up signing him, their fans will soon find out exactly what I’m talking about.
