Newcastle respond to Bruno Guimaraes interest from Liverpool and Barcelona

Newcastle United are preparing to offer Bruno Guimaraes a new contract – not sell him to Liverpool or Barcelona following early summer interest.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the club are in the ‘early stages’ of discussions over a new ‘long term deal’ for the Brazilian international.

Romano has confirmed that Liverpool and Barcelona are among the ‘top clubs’ tracking the star midfielder, but are fully aware that we have no intention of selling him anytime soon.

Instead, it seems talks are underway to tie him down to a new improved contract. This has been mentioned in the background for a few months now and could make sense for all parties now we’ve qualified for the Champions League.

Offering Bruno the platform to play at this level – and compete in amongst the top four in the Premier League – will only boost our bid to keep him for many years to come, especially when he and his family seem so settled on Tyneside and blown away by the love received from fans.
