Liverpool has in mind sign Barcelona star who is much faster than Roberto Firmino

Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of the 24-year-old Barcelona defender Jules Kounde ahead of next season.

According to Daily Mail, Liverpool are keen on having Jules Kounde in their ranks. The 24-year-old defender’s future is uncertain and he could push for a move elsewhere in the upcoming transfer window.

Kounde joined Barcelona ahead of the 2022-23 season. The Catalan giants paid a fee of around £46 million to acquire the services of the French international from Sevilla.

The 24-year-old has had a decent first season under Xavi. He has been involved in 38 matches and has 7 goal contributions to his name. Kounde has impressed a lot of people with his performances as a right-back.

The Barcelona manager didn’t really have many options to pay with and decided to use the French centre-back as a full-back. He has done a decent job on the right side of the defence but is not happy as he was forced to play out of position.

The club president Joan Laporta has not lived up to the promise of playing him in the heart of the defence. As a result, Kounde has asked to leave the club just a year after joining them.

While his contract at the club runs until the summer of 2027, the 24-year-old could be on his way out if the right offer arrives. The Catalan giants have a financial crisis going on and they do need to balance their books before making moves in the summer. As a result, they are open to the idea of letting him leave.

And, as per reports, Liverpool have already made an offer for the French international. However, the offer is below the valuation of the Catalan giants who would only let him leave if they receive a bid worth £52 million.

While the Merseyside club don’t have Champions League football to offer, the 24-year-old will surely feature as a centre-back under Jurgen Klopp. They already have Trent Alexander-Arnold firmly established as a right-back, so he is certain of playing as a central defender.

While Liverpool’s priority is to push for midfielders, Klopp is also looking to strengthen his defence. He is not happy with the performances of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez who have failed to provide the needed cover when Virgil van Dijk or Ibrahima Konate have been unavailable.

As a result, he is keen on having the 24-year-old French defender in his ranks. With Barcelona ready to let him leave for £52 million, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool meet their asking price.

Liverpool have emerged as a potential suitor for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves. The Reds have joined the race for the Portugal international’s signature, as they seek to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

That is as per Football Insider via liverpool.com as the Reds certainly look to bolster their midfield ahead of the new season. Wolves have set a price tag of £50m for Neves, who possesses a wealth of experience in European competitions and the Premier League.

The midfielder’s impressive European and international pedigree, combined with his familiarity with the English top flight, make him an enticing prospect for the Merseysiders. Neves has showcased his technical skills, composure on the ball, and ability to dictate play from deep midfield positions. He’s not new to the scouts of Liverpool as well, as he was always subject to a move to Merseyside.

The departure of Georginio Wijnaldum two years ago to Paris Saint-Germein (PSG) left a void in the squad which has sadly still not been filled, and Neves could offer a seamless replacement. His passing range, defensive acumen, and leadership qualities obviously make him an ideal candidate to bolster Liverpool’s midfield ranks.

Neves to Merseyside?

The competition for Neves’ signature is surely likely to be fierce, as his quality and experience make him an attractive prospect for several top clubs. Liverpool will need to assert their position and convince the player that Anfield is certainly the ideal destination for him to continue his development and compete for major honours.

It is important to note that transfer speculation can evolve quickly, and it is essential to approach these reports with a level of caution until official announcements are made.

The summer transfer window is very unpredictable in nature, and it is extremely essential for the Reds to certainly remain proactive in their approach to sign Neves from the Midlanders.
