Halfway through the 2024 WNBA season, the Chicago Sky managed to establish themselves and stay in the running for the postseason. The Sky’s success is mostly attributed to its highly regarded rookies, Camilla Cardoso and Angel Reese. During one of Chicago’s post-WNBA All-Star/Olympic break sessions, the two gifted rookies gave a serious reflection on an exciting first half of the season.

Kamilla Cardoso, Angel Reese got brutally honest on first half with Sky

Cardoso began her perspective by praising her accomplishments while avoiding excessive nostalgia.

To be honest, I thought it was okay, but that was a while ago. We now need to concentrate on the second half, and my goals for it are to finish strong, play aggressively, and get more rebounds. Following practice on Wednesday, Cardoso stated, “Just being out there with my teammates and doing whatever it takes to get wins.”

Due to a preseason shoulder injury, the former NCAA champion was not able to play during the first few games of the season. As a result, when she made her Sky debut, it took her some time to find her groove. Nevertheless, through her first 18 games of 2024, she averaged 8.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks, showing strong interior play.

Additionally, Cardoso disclosed the areas she improved throughout the break:

I was working out with larger players in order to become more aggressive. That seems to be the main thing that people tell me. “You need to exert more aggression.” I’ve been working on and finalizing it, so. I’m aware that my finishing wasn’t great.

Cardoso’s desire to improve her inside game is encouraging for a Sky club that needs more offensive output—especially in the wake of the deal for Marina Mabrey.

In a similar vein, Angel Reese discussed the topics she concentrated on while on leave.
