Manchester City talks were held last week over ‘incredible’ player who Tottenham want to sign

Tottenham Hotspur could now be at risk to losing out on one of their top summer targets to Manchester City.

It has been a solid summer of business for Tottenham in the transfer market now they have completed their fourth signing of the window.

Ange Postecoglou had been demanding Johan Lange and Daniel Levy provided him with a new striker this summer.

And that is exactly what he has been handed with the signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in what has proven to be a big money deal.

But the work is not done just there for Spurs with Postecoglou admitting their is more business to be done at Hotspur Way before the deadline at the end of the month.

It is now less than a week until Spurs kick off their season with their away trip to Leicester City on Monday night which means any further arrivals before then will have to be completed quickly.

However, there may be an issue with one of their targets as Manchester City held talks over him just last week.

Manchester City hold fresh talks over Tottenham target

Tottenham have been able to address a number of positions in the window so far but there still feels like there could be significant work done.

Yang Min-hyeok does not arrive in north London until January and Timo Werner’s return on loan will not really feel like a new signing to the fans.

Postecoglou is going to have to contend with Europa League football this season and that is going to require a squad filled with quality.

And if last season was anything to go by, Spurs could also face a list of injuries over the course of the campaign.

According to The Athletic, Manchester City held informal talks over Eberechi Eze last week after being a real candidate last summer.

But that is not to say that City have narrowed their search down to just Eze with Pep Guardiola’s side believed to have a number of options available.

The stumbling block for any side this summer could well be the mammoth £68m release clause in Eze’s Crystal Palace contract.

Any side who want to bring in Eze this summer are going to have to stump up big time.

Tottenham want to sign Eberechi Eze this summer

Tottenham would still very much like to sign Eze from Palace this summer but the fee is likely going to cause an issue.

The stipulations of Eze’s release clause mean the large majority of the fee is expected to be paid up front by any interested side.

Tottenham have been in contact with the ‘incredible’ Eze’s camp since February as they have tried to work on a deal.

Having already spent big on the signing of Solanke this summer, that could cause a major issue for Spurs if they are looking to make their move for Eze.

But there could well be another issue for Spurs now.

Crystal Palace are receiving bids from Newcastle United for Marc Guehi. Having already sold Michael Olise and now potentially set to lose Guehi, Palace will surely be keen not to lose a third big name in Eze.
