Manchester City could swoop for a young star at Paris Saint-Germain to replace Atletico Madrid-bound Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez will join Atletico for a staggering £82 million, marking the completion of a record-breaking deal for Manchester City.

The Argentina international has been the focus of much conjecture in recent weeks, but it has now resulted in a transfer to La Liga for the player, with an announcement of the transfer anticipated shortly.

Alvarez was an excellent acquisition for City.

Throughout his 103 games, he racked up 36 goals and 18 assists.

Replacing that level of production could be challenging, but Pep Guardiola will evaluate his alternatives and the transfer market before coming up with a plan.

Bradley Barcola, who was mentioned as an unexpected candidate in one article yesterday, is one individual who could be capable of doing the job.

Football Transfers has reported that Manchester City may try to sign Bradley Barcola, the star player for Paris Saint-Germain.

The article states that they were informed that Pep and his hiring staff “greatly admire” the 21-year-old France international, and that he may be someone to watch out for.

According to reports, the club has been “closely monitoring him for some time.” Yes, last summer there were rumors of interest from City.

PSG wouldn’t sell Barcola considering the lateness of the current window. There’s no indication of what the asking price is.

Barcola made 42 appearances in his first season, scoring five goals and dishing out nine assists, after joining PSG from Lyon in the summer for a reported £39 million.

Barcola highly unlikely for City

There is no doubt that Barcola is a serious talent, but it is difficult to see him making a move to City this summer.

In terms of him being a potential replacement for Alvarez, £109,000-a-week gem Barcola mostly plays out wide. Alvarez very rarely played out wide for City.

Perhaps him signing would prompt someone like Oscar Bobb to move centrally, but it really would be a shock if he was someone City went for.

Maybe he is someone City will move for in time. He has only been at the Parc des Princes for a year and PSG would probably demand a fortune for him this summer to let him go.
