Liverpool readying bid for “magician” winger who could be Salah’s Successor

FSG are said to be preparing an “imminent” offer.

Liverpool are reportedly readying an offer to secure the signing of a new winger who’s been called a “magician” by his teammates, seeing him as a possible successor to Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future
Last summer, a huge £150m offer arrived for Salah from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, but the Reds rejected it on the spot, not wanting arguably their most prized player to move on. While Salah hasn’t indicated that he will move away this year instead, it seems inevitable that further bids will arrive from Saudi clubs, as they look to turn his head with his contract ticking down.

The Liverpool legend is out of contract at Anfield in the summer of 2025, so it is clear that a huge decision will need to be made at the end of this season, with the 31-year-old either having to sign an extension or leave for an eye-watering amount of money. The idea of him moving on for free next year doesn’t even bear thinking about.

Should Salah decide to enjoy a fresh challenge in the summer, it is imperative that the Reds have some stellar potential replacements lined up, and it looks as though that is the case.

Liverpool eyeing Barcelona star Raphinha
According to a report from Spain, Liverpool are keen on signing Barcelona winger Raphinha, looking at him as a successor to Salah, should he move on at the end of the season. There is also interest in his teammate Ansu Fati, who is currently on loan at Brighton.

“Liverpool are taking a proactive stance regarding the possibility of Mohamed Salah leaving the club after having a significant offer from Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia. In order to ensure a smooth transition in the event of his departure, Liverpool are evaluating two Barcelona options in Raphinha and Ansu Fati.

“The first option that Liverpool is evaluating is that of the Brazilian winger, since his place in the Barcelona squad is not guaranteed. Although the negotiations could be a complex process, the possibility of bringing in Raphinha as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah is on the table, with Liverpool preparing an imminent offer to acquire his services.”

Raphinha could be an excellent option for Liverpool, not least because he has proven himself in the Premier League in the past, shining for Leeds United and registering 29 goal contributions (17 goals and 12 assists) in the competition. Leeds teammate Dan James once said of him: “He’s a magician. He’s always been a great player – I played against him at United and he was always great – but he’s improved so much.”

Despite not quite finding the stardom he was hoping for when he moved to Catalonia, he has received plenty of praise with Barca too, with members of the media saying his movement is “unstoppable” and “one of his and Barcelona’s deadliest weapons”.

Replacing Salah is going to be a near-impossible task for Liverpool, considering he is one of the best players in the history of the club, and while him staying remains easily the best option, Raphinha could bring similar attributes if he comes in, in terms of his ability to cut in from the right wing and affect games with his technical brilliance.

Roy Keane praises Jurgen Klopp for “no bull” verdict on Liverpool defeat
February 5, 2024
Adam Beattie
Jurgen Klopp had a surprise ally after the defeat to Arsenal, with former Man United midfielder Roy Keane praising his honesty in his post-match interview.

Liverpool fell to only their second league defeat of the season as the Gunners took advantage of multiple mistakes to come away 3-1 winners.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Reds, with Klopp delivering a frank assessment of his side’s performance after the contest in which he described some of his star players as “humans.”

Somewhat unexpectedly, Keane was quick to defend this approach from the Liverpool boss, hailing the “no bull” attitude he showed as he looked back on the game.

“I loved the interview, I think he is very honest, Klopp,” Keane told Sky Sports after the game.

“I think he’s been calm there. He’s obviously got vast experience, he knows over the course of the season you have your ups and downs.

“For most of the season for Liverpool it’s been up so I get the balance right, I thought his piece was spot on.

“I’ve always enjoyed his stuff after games, I don’t think you get any bull from him, I enjoyed that, I thought it was pretty straightforward.

“Can you see that quality of the manager and that experience? ‘Everyone calm down, we’ll bounce back.’”

It is a defeat that keeps the title race wide open, with Arsenal being brought firmly back into the picture as they move to within two points of top spot.

Man City have an opportunity to join the Gunners on 49 points at Brentford on Monday evening, but they have currently played two games fewer than the top two sides.

There will no doubt be plenty of twists and turns before the season is over, but Liverpool remain at the top of the table as things stand.

While it was a disappointing performance at an inopportune moment, the Reds are still well-placed and will be hoping to bounce back against Burnley on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.

MICHAEL OWEN & IAN WRIGHT AGREE ABOUT ALISSON BECKER & VIRGIL VAN DIJK AFTER LIVERPOOL’S LOSS TO ARSENAL

It has been a long while since Liverpool tasted defeat, but it was another London club who put another ‘L’ next to the club’s name for this season.

Given that the defeat to Tottenham was a controversial one, you would probably have to go back to last season when Jurgen Klopp watched his players make errors and not look like themselves.

Gabriel Martinelli’s goal stemmed from a mix-up between Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk on the edge of Liverpool’s penalty area, which the Arsenal man happily accepted.

Michael Owen and Ian Wright agreed that it was the man in between the sticks who was to blame for that moment because he should have come out and cleared the ball, as they told Premier League Productions (04/02/24 at 6:40 pm).

In the end, neither player actually did anything, other than, letting the ball bounce and watching Gabriel Martinelli put the ball into an open net to give the home side the lead once again.

Liverpool weren’t at their best at the Emirates, but they were still level after the hour mark and they had every chance to get something from the match.

That moment just opened the door for Arsenal and they then added to their tally in stoppage-time when substitute Leandro Trossard put the cherry on top of the cake.

Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk mix-up
“It shouldn’t happen, it’s definitely a mistake,” said Owen. “I thought it was Alisson’s fault. If I had to pick a player.

“Listen, you can blame both of them in many ways. I think, potentially, Virgil van Dijk could head this one. He could head it and he lets it bounce.

“After that, he is in total control if Alisson stays on his line. He is in control. He is happy one-v-one. Stronger and quicker. He’s goal side and absolutely in control, just don’t come out and leave him to it, then Alisson comes out and actually half collides and none of them touche it – so, I think it’s more Alisson’s fault than van Dijk’s.”

Wright added: “If Alisson doesn’t come, then there is Gabriel Martinelli and there is no way he gets on that side of Virgil. No way he is getting on that side – but seeing Alisson there and getting the little nudge, it’s confused everything. He needed more communication from the goalkeeper.”

Liverpool open the title door for Arsenal
Liverpool put on a late show against Arsenal in the FA Cup recently and those home fans were probably fearing the worst was going to happen again.

There is no doubt that Mikel Arteta’s men were the better team, but the fact is, before that mistake, the scoreline read very differently.

It would have suited Liverpool if it had remained that way, but that title door was opened by Alisson and van Dijk.

All of this now just makes things very, very interesting and reduces Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to just two points.

Arsenal may finally have what they need after Gabriel moment left Darwin Nunez shook
Comment: Gabriel’s bizarre moment with Darwin Nunez was evidence of a trait that Arsenal have lacked under Mikel Arteta.

When Darwin Nunez blazed over the crossbar in a missed opportunity to put Liverpool level against Arsenal in the second half of their Premier League clash, Gabriel growled in the face of the Uruguayan. It was a moment that epitomised the kind of underhand tactic that Arsenal have lacked under Mikel Arteta.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp unleashes referee tirade after Arsenal collapse
The north Londoners have too often been perceived as being too nice. Inexperience and immaturity in their biggest matches saw them falter in their pursuit of a shock Premier League title last season.

But with the expectations raised in this campaign, Arsenal now seem a much savvier group of players. They now push the rules to their very boundaries and, on Sunday, frustrated a Liverpool side that are renowned for calm and patience.

Manchester City are masters of the dark arts – winding up their opposition and committing fouls that stop promising counter-attacks. Arsenal finally appear to be taking note of a tactic that breeds trophy winners.

Gabriel’s growl in the face of Nunez was an attempt to get into the head of the striker. It was a move that oozed the positive kind of arrogance required to push a title contender off track.

Nunez seemed so moved by Gabriel’s roar that he hugged the Brazilian and attempted to laugh it off. But the defender had clearly won the mental battle.

Last season, it was Arsenal whose ability to cope under pressure was too easily beaten apart. A brittle mentality was exposed in the final stretch of the season, when a gap over Manchester City that at one stage was 11 points seemed to close by the week. City ultimately won the league by five points.

But this time around, Arsenal seem much stronger. Injuries were their downfall in the first half of the season, as opposed to succumbing to pressure. The lack of a striker capable of matching Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah’s respective goal tallies will likely see them fail to win a first Premier League in 20 years.

But, finally for Arteta, genuine leaders appear to be emerging among his squad. Gabriel, William Saliba, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Jorginho provide a spine of players capable of performing under pressure and using the dark arts to see through momentous victories that last season would have been defeats.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta responds to Odegaard suspicions ahead of Liverpool
“Definitely it is because it’s such a good group, it’s such a humble group,” said the experienced Jorginho when asked by Sky Sports if Arsenal have a squad capable of winning the trophies he won at Chelsea. “They listen to each other and no one is selfish here and everyone thinks for the group and that’s the most important thing and the maturity our team demonstrated today was huge.”

Arsenal’s maturity will be needed ahead of the season’s run-in. Arteta’s side still need to go to City, Tottenham and Manchester United. They also have a tough Champions League last-16 tie against Porto.

It is in those matches that Arsenal will prove they have the personality to win trophies.

Arsenal have learned from last year’s title miss – Arteta

James Olley, Senior Writer, ESPN FC
Feb 4, 2024, 08:26 PM

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hailed his side’s performance in their win over Liverpool on Sunday. Getty
Mikel Arteta has said he believes Arsenal are firmly in the Premier League title race and vowed to learn lessons from last season after beating leaders Liverpool 3-1 at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring on 14 minutes in a raucous atmosphere before a Gabriel own-goal on the stroke of half-time drew the visitors level.

– Stream on ESPN+: LaLiga, Bundesliga, more (U.S.)

A comical mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker gifted Gabriel Martinelli the chance to put Arsenal in front on 67 minutes before substitute Leandro Trossard added a third in stoppage-time to move Arsenal within two points of Liverpool and above Manchester City into second place.

“We are there, that’s for sure,” said Arteta. “We want to continue to be there. We’ve been really consistent all season, if not you aren’t where we are today.

“We take it game by game, the availability of the squad is going to be crucial. We have learned that from last season. Let’s try to make that happen.

“It was an extraordinary game, an incredible performance from the players and our people. That’s the best atmosphere I’ve seen all season.

“We demanded that. We had to go to a different level and connect it again to the demands that this league has. I think the players left absolutely everything.

“They put their heart and soul in every single ball. I cannot be any prouder because I know how hard it is to beat this team, how much you have to suffer and how much you have to process to do what we did on the ball.”

Saka limped off injured with 11 minutes to go but Arteta played down the severity of that problem and added that the fitness issue that caused Gabriel Jesus to miss the game will only keep him out for a matter of “days.”

Jamie Carragher told Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard to ‘get down the tunnel’ following his post-match celebrations after his side’s 3-1 win over Liverpool.

The Reds endured a torrid day at the office as a mistake by Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson Becker gifted their Premier League title rivals two goals, just their second defeat of the season. Mikel Arteta’s side were up for the crunch match and caught Liverpool cold as the league leaders failed to lay a glove on the North London club.

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard were on target for the Gunners, while a Gabriel own-goal handed Liverpool an unlikely avenue back into the game. Jurgen Klopp’s misery was compounded when Ibrahima Konate was shown a second yellow card moments before Trossard’s effort.

The victory reignited Arsenal’s title aspirations, and they certainly enjoyed getting one over on their rivals. In the immediate aftermath of the full-time whistle going, Odegaard, who completed the full 90 minutes, turned photographer.

The midfielder took a snap of Gunners club photographer Stuart McFarlane in front of a jubilant home end, but Carragher was not impressed with what he was seeing.

He said: “Just get down the tunnel, you’ve won a game. It’s three points, you’ve been brilliant you are back in the title race, get back down the tunnel. I am serious – honestly.”

Before he later added: “Arsenal deserved the win, Liverpool were so far off. They played poorly, it’s not something we’ve seen of them of late. They’ve got three or four matches until they play Manchester City – that’ll be a massive test of their nerve now.”

The real reason Jurgen Klopp decided to leave Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp sent shockwaves through the world of football in January when he announced his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The German manager, who was appointed by the club in October 2015, had signed a two-year extension to his contract in April 2022 which was set to keep him at the club until 2026.

However, Klopp has elected to walk away from the Anfield hotseat sooner than had been expected, bringing an end to his hugely successful spell on Merseyside which has seen him guide Liverpool to seven major trophies.

So, as the Klopp farewell tour gets underway, let’s take a look at why one of the most influential figures in the club’s history has decided to call time on his Liverpool journey after almost nine years.

Why is Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool?
In an emotional video message to the club’s fans, the 56-year-old cited his diminishing energy levels as a major factor in opting to call time on his glittering reign.

‘I am who I am, and where I am because of how I am. If I can’t do it anymore then tell the people I stop,’ he said at a subsequent and hastily arranged press conference.

‘It wasn’t my idea when I signed a new contract, I was 100% convinced we would go to 2026. I underestimated my energy levels as being endless. It always was. Now it’s not.’

According to the Telegraph, however, the primary reason for Klopp’s decision to walk away was a consequence of the rapid progress his team have made this season.

After the turbulent 2022/23 campaign, it appeared that Liverpool would require major surgery in order to be back in a position whereby they could challenge Manchester City’s domestic dominance again.

The departures of stalwarts Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino only heightened that opinion, but several shrewd acquisitions allied to the emergence of young talents such as Jarell Quansah has seen a new-look side emerge, one that is currently sustaining a challenge on four fronts.

Prior to Liverpool releasing their official statement on January 26, Klopp gathered his players on the training pitch and notified them of his intentions, citing their recent performances as a reason for his impending departure.

Klopp had been mindful of wanting to leave his eventual successor in a position of strength, rather than one where a major rebuild would be required.

One of the favourites for the Premier League title, through to the Carabao Cup final and still involved in the Europa League as well as the FA Cup, the German believes he is now set to deliver on that intention, regardless of any silverware he is able to secure between now and his leaving date.

As for his replacement, Xabi Alonso, the former Liverpool midfielder currently working wonders at Bayer Leverkusen, has been the early frontrunner but Klopp his adamant he will play no part in selecting the man who inherits the Anfield hot seat.

‘No, why should I?” Klopp said. “The last thing they need is advice from the old man walking out who tells them: ‘By the way, make sure you bring him in.’

‘I will definitely not do that. You know for most of the things I have an opinion, and you will not believe that for most I still didn’t say everything and I have no problem with that.

Arsenal 3-1 Liverpool: Gunners close gap as Alisson fluffs his lines at the Emirates
Will Ford 18 minutes ago
Martinelli Arsenal
Gabriel Martinelli celebrates scoring for Arsenal against Liverpool.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker made a brace of costly errors as the 10-man Reds lost 3-1 at Arsenal to see their lead at the top of the Premier League cut to two points.

The Gunners themselves had gifted an equaliser to the visitors as a Gabriel Magalhaes own goal on the stroke of half-time cancelled out Bukayo Saka’s opener.

But Mikel Arteta’s men would ultimately run out winners as a mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson allowed Gabriel Martinelli to round off a fine individual performance by re-establishing the lead before substitute Leandro Trossard fired straight through the goalkeeper’s legs in stoppage time.

It is just a second league defeat of the season for the Reds, who struggled to get into the game for the majority of the first half at the Emirates Stadium and ended with a numerical disadvantage as Ibrahima Konate was sent off late on.

Martinelli once again shone against Liverpool, hitting his fifth goal against Jurgen Klopp’s side – the departing German no doubt looking forward to seeing the back of a player he once described as “a talent of the century”.

Arsenal were without Gabriel Jesus, injured once more, but took the lead against Liverpool for the fourth Premier League encounter in a row.

They started well here, too, David Raya claiming a routine cross before bowling the ball out to Martinelli, whose pace was enough to see off Konate but Saka could not make telling contact as he met the cross with a diving header.

Arsenal have made a habit of scoring early against Liverpool, however, and that trend continued as Saka made amends in the 14th minute.

A great pass from Martin Odegaard found Kai Havertz in space, the German forward breaking through on goal only to shoot straight at Alisson, with Saka on hand to turn home the rebound.

Despite struggling with Arsenal’s high press and failing to register a shot on target in the first half, Liverpool would go in level at the break as the unwitting Gabriel turned the ball into his own goal off his arm after Luis Diaz had outmuscled William Saliba.

The fortuitous equaliser shifted the momentum as Liverpool came out for the second half with a more cutting edge with both Diaz and Curtis Jones getting shots away.

Jakub Kiwior had replaced Oleksandr Zinchenko at the break for the home side, who reacted well as Odegaard saw a shot deflected just wide of Alisson’s right-hand post

The hosts wanted a penalty when Havertz tangled with Alexis Mac Allister but referee Anthony Taylor was unmoved as VAR sided with the on-field official.

Arsenal would retake the lead soon after, with the Liverpool defence this time left red-faced as Alisson and Van Dijk left a clearance to one another, allowing Martinelli to collect and finish into an empty net.

Mac Allister flashed a shot wide as Liverpool looked to respond a second time having already rescued 19 points from losing positions this season.

The early exertion from Arsenal’s forwards saw them tire as both Martinelli and Saka were replaced by Trossard and Reiss Nelson, respectively, for the closing stages.

But it was another substitute, Poland defender Kiwior, who missed a fine chance to make sure of the points when he headed straight at Alisson.

Klopp, too, had turned to his bench with Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Andrew Robertson and fit-again Thiago Alcantara all introduced in a forlorn attempt to salvage a result.

Instead, Konate was dismissed – booked a second time for blocking Trossard – before Trossard’s low near-post shot flashed between the legs of Alisson to secure the points for Arteta’s men.

Conor Bradley’s dad saw son make special Liverpool debut in 2021 after a touching act of selflessness from fellow fan… years after he had organised fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease research and sponsored local youth football trophies

Conor Bradley’s father was able to see his son make his Liverpool debut in 2021 after a kind intervention from another disabled fan – in the spirit of his own selflessness.

Joe Bradley’s death at the age of 58 was confirmed by Liverpool on Saturday after a long battle with illness.

He lived to see his son, 20, become a Kop favourite after a run of games this season, including Liverpool’s 4-1 midweek demolition of Chelsea in which Conor scored.

And it turns out he was present for Conor’s debut in the EFL Cup against Norwich in 2021 – after a fellow fan kindly gifted their wheelchair bay.

A tweet from the Liverpool Disabled Supporters’ Association said: ‘In 2021, LFC at late notice needed a wheelchair bay at Norwich. I gave my bay up and thought no more of it.

‘Soon after, LFC arranged a video call with Jurgen Klopp who thanked me for giving my bay up. The bay was for Conor’s dad so he could watch his son make his LFC debut! YNWA.’

It was a touching act that allowed a devoted father to see his son on the big stage – the stuff of dreams for parents who sacrifice so much for their children to make it in professional football.

As it turns out, Joe had invested in his own community and helping others in the past.

A post from 2014 in a Facebook group called ‘The Dergian’ – local to Castlederg in County Tyrone, Conor’s place of birth – details how Joe once set up a charity fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease, which he had.

Joe set up a golf classic at Strabane Golf Club through his business Derg Commercials.

The post reads: ‘As I am sure you are all aware, Joe suffers from Parkinson’s Disease and is most affected in his speech so finds it hard to communicate.

‘This is the reason for our campaign to help raise awareness (and some much needed money) for this charity in the hope that a cure may be found or and improved quality of life for those who suffer from the condition.’

The post continued: ‘Anyone interested in sponsoring a hole at the Golf Classic or would like to take part in the competition, please feel free to get in touch with us. The sponsorship for the holes are £25 and £50 per hole. Any other donations would be very welcomed.

‘Thank you for taking time to read this appeal for a charity that is extremely close to our hearts and if you can help in any way, your donation will go towards helping to raise awareness of Parkinson’s and towards research which hopefully, one day will find a cure.’

More to follow.

26-year-old’s place in the Liverpool team is now in danger, he needs a big performance today
Sun 4 February 2024 08:00
James Brooke
Liverpool’s game against Arsenal today is a big one in the context of the Premier League title race.

If the Reds win, they’ll move eight points ahead of Manchester City, Aston Villa and indeed the Gunners themselves. Lose, and the gap will be down to two points, opening the door for City to go top with two games in hand.

Aside from that though, there are a few little side stories at play in the Liverpool team. With players now returning to fitness, Jurgen Klopp’s squad is virtually full strength. Thiago Alcantara is the big one, finally back from almost a year out. However, we don’t think Thiago will get out on the pitch tomorrow, as much as we’d love to see that.

One player who will be itching to start though is Andy Robertson. The left-back made his return last weekend against Norwich City, but had to make do with a place on the bench that day, and midweek against Chelsea.

Normally, Robbo would be thrown straight back in, no questions asked. But such has been the form of Joe Gomez of late, the Scotland captain is being made to work for it.

In our opinion, Gomez has made himself undroppable in Robertson’s absence. With the first choice banging at the door though, today is a big day for Joe.

Gomez fighting for his place
Few would have expected Liverpool would have been in this position a month or so ago. Without Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, the plan was for Gomez to simply make it through unscathed.

Instead, the 26-year-old has been one of the Reds’ top two or three performers ever since.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Given the size of today’s game, the momentum Gomez has and the fact that Robertson only has 56 minutes in his legs since October, Liverpool’s No.2 deserves to go again at the Emirates.

But make no mistake, Robbo is still Klopp’s pick. And so he should be. The 29-year-old has been an absolute stalwart for the manager for more than seven years.

Although we think Jurgen will stick with Gomez for today, the pressure is now on the England international.

However, if he can step up and carry on going, then there’s no reason he can’t keep the shirt. As he’s likely to be face-to-face with Bukayo Saka, it’s the perfect audition for Gomez to lay down another big marker.

December’s reverse fixture with Arsenal was the Liverpool man’s first game at left-back in this little run. As Saka himself declared after the game, Gomez did well.

On the Gunners’ talisman’s home turf today, that challenge will be amplified further. Stand up tall, and Klopp will have no reason to change his left-back.

But anything other than a stand-out performance, and you’d imagine Robertson will be back for Burnley next week. Gomez has backed himself and come out swinging incredibly over the past six weeks. One more time to the well, Joe.

The Kansas City Chiefs face off against the San Francisco 49ers in next weekend’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

The game will see Kittle go head-to-head against Kelce, considered by many to be among the greatest tight ends in NFL history.

But, speaking ahead of next Sunday’s showdown, the 34-year-old claimed Kittle is the cream of the current crop.

‘He’s the best tight end in the league,’ Kelce said of his rival.

‘Better than Liverpool’… Pundit says ‘special’ manager should go to Man City rather than replace Klopp
Sat 3 February 2024 15:30
James Thompson
Scott Minto has suggested that Roberto De Zerbi would be a better replacement for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City rather than Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The Brighton & Hove Albion manager has been mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Klopp at Liverpool after it was announced last week that the German will be leaving the Merseyside club at the end of the season.

Having also been mentioned previously as an heir to Guardiola at City, the Italian has been the topic of conversation with one pundit who has shared his thoughts on if De Zerbi could find himself managing Liverpool or City in the future.

Pundit backs De Zerbi to manage City ahead of Liverpool

Photo by GLYN KIRK/AFP via Getty Images
Speaking in a recent episode of Premier League All Access, Minto had this to say about De Zerbi and what the future could hold for him after seeing his side lose 4-0 to Luton Town in midweek.

He said: “What De Zerbi has done to take it on is something special from what Graham Potter did as well and there’s always going to be blips in the road. That obviously was a big one and the important thing then is to bounce back in the very next game.

MORE MAN CITY STORIES
“But in terms of De Zerbi, just because they lost 4-0, for me it doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t be a candidate for Liverpool, although I actually think he’d suit Manchester City better than Liverpool.”

Since being appointed as Brighton’s manager back in September 2022, the 44-year-old has overlooked 70 matches in total across all competitions ahead of today’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

Across those 70 games, Brighton have won 33, drawn 16 and lost 21, leaving De Zerbi with a points per match average of 1.64.

Back in October, Guardiola heaped praise on the Brighton boss by saying that he is one of the coaches he admires the most in world football.

Even though the Spaniard’s contract at the Etihad Stadium isn’t set to expire until 2025, it’ll be interesting to see if De Zerbi ends up in the Manchester club’s list of candidates to replace Guardiola whenever the 53-year-old decides to call it a day.

Jurgen Klopp to leave Anfield immediately as FSG confirmed all his bad attitude

Al-Ittihad negotiating £60 million deal for world-class Liverpool attacker

Al-Ittihad negotiating £60 million deal for world-class Liverpool attacker

Following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United nine months ago, the wealthy Saudi Pro League have continued to poach some of European football’s biggest names.

Karim Benzema followed Ronaldo’s lead and multiple other big-name stars have also joined the lucrative Middle Eastern league, including England’s Jordan Henderson.

However, while the majority of Liverpool fans may not have been too concerned about losing their 33-year-old captain, who had undoubtedly already given the Reds his best years, things could be about to change.

And that is because recent reports claim Mohamed Salah is the Saudi Pro League’s next target.

“It is true. There are negotiations between Mohamed Salah and the Saudi club Al-Ittihad,” a source told national outlet Al-Riyadiyah.

“This is what I can say, for now I have no other details. The offer must be attractive for the Egyptian star to come to play in Saudi Arabia.”

It has been noted that Al-Ittihad, who have already lured Fabinho from Merseyside, are willing to offer the 2019-20 Premier League champions another £60 million, but this time, in exchange for their world-class number 11.

Not only that but in an attempt to convince Salah to leave Europe, Al-Ittihad are thought to be prepared to pay the 31-year-old Egypt international an eye-watering £155 million over two seasons.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé didn’t resolve his future during the January transfer window. However, he can still decide since the Frenchman can sign a pre-contract before his current deal with the Parisians expires in June.

Speculation and opinions about the outcome will abound until the 25-year-old decides on his future. The latest comes from journalist Rudy Galetti, who ruled out two potential destinations for the 25-year-old in his CaughtOffside column.

According to Galetti, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s only alternative remains Real Madrid. Furthermore, he notes that Liverpool has no chance now, and Saudi Arabia has no chance at all for the winger.

Should the 25-year-old choose to leave, PSG has already set its sights on AC Milan’s Rafael Leão as his replacement. Reports suggest that Leão has been informed by his close circle about PSG’s interest, leading him to reconsider his future despite having just extended his contract with AC Milan until 2028.

DONE DEAL

According to O Jogo, despite interest from Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, Argentina’s World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez is prioritizing a move to Premier League superpower Liverpool
Benfica took a risk and accomplished something no one else would have done six months ago. They activated the £18 million release clause in Enzo Fernandez’s River Plate contract.

Even the most enthusiastic Benfica supporter could not have predicted how far Enzo would progress in such a short period of time.

The 21-year-old playmaker smiled for images on Sunday night at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium while carrying a World Cup winner’s medal around his neck, the Young Player of the Tournament award in one hand, and the Jules Rimet in the other.

Meanwhile, his asking price has risen from £18 million to about £100 million, with the Portuguese giants unwilling to let Enzo depart for anything less than his exorbitant release clause.

LIVERPOOL LEAD THE CHASE TO SIGN ARGENTINA’S WORLD CUP WINNER ENZO FERNANDEZ.

According to La Capital, the Merseyside giants have already agreed to terms with Enzo’s club. O Jogo has now presented evidence to support his claim. Liverpool will also match any bid made by rival suitors, who include Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester United.

Liverpool appears to be given ‘priority’ by Enzo.
Enzo has made it clear that he wants to become the most expensive signing in the history of one of Europe’s most illustrious football clubs. And, as his outstanding performances in the Qatar World Cup revealed, he is not a man who gives in under pressure.

Liverpool has a good working relationship with Benfica as well. They agreed to a £64 million deal for Darwin Nunez last August.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hailed his side’s performance in their win over Liverpool on Sunday. Getty
Mikel Arteta has said he believes Arsenal are firmly in the Premier League title race and vowed to learn lessons from last season after beating leaders Liverpool 3-1 at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring on 14 minutes in a raucous atmosphere before a Gabriel own-goal on the stroke of half-time drew the visitors level.

Liverpool are on the lookout for a new manager (Picture: Getty)

Klopp’s announcement stunned the game (Picture: Getty)

‘I wish for the future of this club the very, very, very best and for now I am still here and can help them to achieve the best possible.’

“Transfer shocker: Liverpool beats Real Madrid to sign £190m target, as confirmed by his agent after victory!”

“He has a bright future,” Argentina captain Lionel Messi said of Fernandez, who kicked off Sunday’s final victory over France. “Enzo is an exceptional genius.” He exudes charisma and makes amazing passes. Spectacular.”

His playing talent is absolutely incredible. “At only 21 years old,” recalls former Real Madrid coach Jose Peseiro.

“The best player with whom I worked at Real Madrid was Zinedine Zidane.” Of course, I don’t want to draw parallels. But I’m speaking to Enzo’s brief and spectacular vision, which reminds me of Zidane.

“What exactly is Enzo’s age?” Is he 21?”That’s either a lie or a stroke of genius!”

Jorg Schmadtke is allegedly close to being hired as Liverpool’s new sporting director, with the German expected to supervise Jurgen Klopp’s summer plans
According to Sky Germany writer Florian Plettenberg, despite the fact that terms have been agreed upon, the former VfL Wolfsburg official has yet to sign his contract with the Anfield club, despite the fact that Schmadtke’s wife has given her approval for the move to take place in the coming weeks.

Schmadtke, a personal friend of Klopp’s, is set to play a crucial role in Liverpool’s summer business, with the former Bundesliga transfer head entrusted with monitoring the German market and identifying targets from the country who may be of interest to the Reds.

Jurgen-Klopp-Darwin-Nunez
Jurgen-Klopp-Darwin-Nunez
Liverpool would love to recruit Schmadtke sooner rather than later, with the summer transfer market only a few weeks away, but this newest update looks to imply that the Anfield club revealing the announcement is only a matter of time.

Liverpool’s acquisition of Schmadtke might be critical for Klopp’s next squad.

Schmadtke has a great reputation in his native Germany, and while he won’t be at Anfield for long, his work with Klopp might define the Reds for years to come.

Most Liverpool fans appreciate how crucial this transfer window is for the club, and with Klopp now gaining the services of a sporting director in Schmadtke whom he trusts, the pair might set the groundwork for the Merseyside club.

Liverpool ready to sign £35M million treble-winner to replace departing Fabinho

It has been claimed that LIVERPOOL are now ready to pay £35 million in order to try and sign Man City star Kalvin Phillips.

At Leeds – Phillips established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League – and that prompted Man City boss Pep Guardiola to take him to the Etihad.

However – the move has not quite worked out and he has struggled to make an impact -with a number of injuries keeping him on the sidelines more often that he would have hoped for.

That has led to stunning reports in the media that West Ham are eyeing up a stunning deal for the midfielder – especially as they are seeking a replacement for the much talked about Declan Rice.

WHAT IS THE LATEST

IcFootballnews believes that the Reds are keen to sign the out-of-favour English international and will offer £35 million to get the deal done this summer.

It has been claimed that Liverpool have already contacted Phillips regarding a potential summer move, and the 27-year-old is open to arriving at Anfield.

WOULD HE BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR LIVERPOOL?

When Phillips joined Man City – he must have believed that his career was going to go to that next level – but with all the quality that the club have – he has really struggled.

He is a very good player and a man that Liverpool fans would love – so it may be the best thing for him to leave City this summer – as he needs to reignite his career.

And at LIVERPOOL – it could be the big move that helps him win MORE trophies and achieve his goal of reaching that next level in the game
