‘Liverpool are advancing…’ – Romano shares exciting update on Reds’ pursuit of Mac Allister
Fabrizio Romano has shared an exciting update on Liverpool’s reported pursuit of Alexis Mac Allister.
The Brighton midfielder has been strongly linked with a potential summer move to Anfield, with TuttoMercatoWeb even reporting (via Daily Express) that a fee of up to £57.6m has been agreed in principle between the two clubs.
The Italian journalist has since taken to his YouTube channel to share the latest on what he knows about the Argentine’s interest from the Reds.
Romano said of the Merseysiders: “They presented the project, presented the financial proposal. Now it’s up to Mac Allister; he’s tempted. Liverpool are advancing but it’s not a done deal.
“So it’s not as if Mac Allister and Liverpool have agreed everything and now the deal is completed. We have to wait on that side, for sure, Liverpool are the frontrunners.”

With each passing day, the prospect of Mac Allister becoming a Liverpool player by the start of next season appears to grow.
Romano’s update appears to conflict with some reports regarding the status of an agreement, but if the Reds and Brighton have settled on a proposed fee and the player is ‘tempted’ by the move, these are all very promising signs.
Plenty could still happen between now and the end of the summer transfer window, but it seems as if FSG are making good progress in their efforts to try and get this deal finalised in the early stages of the off-season.
If Liverpool can get one of their main targets through the door by the end of May, or in the first two weeks of June – which seems a real possibility judging by the recent reports – it could offer reassurance of a positive few months in terms of market activity at Anfield.

Fernando Torres has sent Sadio Mane warning over Chelsea move as shock bid planned
Fernando Torres has sent Sadio Mane a warning about moving to Chelsea.
The 31-year-old only left Anfield last summer, having claimed 120 goals and 38 assists during a trophy-laden six-year spell at Liverpool.
However, he has endured a difficult season in Bavaria, plagued by poor form and off-the-field issues.
Bayern are reportedly willing to sell Mane despite the player having returned to Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI.
And Chelsea allegedly want to make Mane their first summer signing. Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino, who is widely reported to be in line to take up the Chelsea manager post, is also said to be keen on luring the Senegal international to Stamford Bridge.
Torres’ Chelsea warning
Torres moved to Liverpool from Atletico Madrid back in 2007 and established himself as one of the world’s most prolific strikers over a four-year spell.
The Spaniard then controversially sealed a January deadline-day move to Chelsea, where he won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup but failed to reach the lofty heights of his Liverpool performances.
In 172 games for the Blues, Torres scored only 45 times before returning to Atletico in 2016 after a brief loan spell at AC Milan.
While Torres insisted he doesn’t regret joining Chelsea, the move meant he is no longer seen by many Liverpool fans as a legend. Indeed, Mane too could damage his reputation with Liverpool fans if he joins Chelsea.
Torres told TalkSPORT: “It was maybe my fault for not being able to adapt quicker. I had really good moments but I was not consistent. And if you are not consistent at a big club like Chelsea and you are not performing every week then someone will come in and take your position.
“Arriving at a club like that full of stars in the middle of the season it is very difficult to fit in. Maybe I didn’t find the partnership that I had with [Steven] Gerrard, [Javier] Mascherano and Xabi [Alonso] but I always said it was my fault. I was old enough to find solutions but I didn’t do it.
“I’m happy because I won the trophies that I wanted, I played really good football but I didn’t do it every weekend so in any big club in the world if you don’t perform every weekend then it is not enough.”
