Journalist says ‘perfect’ midfielder open to Liverpool move, things could happen in window’s ‘final few days’

Liverpool could still do with more midfield reinforcements in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

The Reds have signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and – more recently – Wataru Endo this summer.

However, Liverpool have also lost numerous midfielders in the past few months, so there’s scope for yet more arrivals.

Ben Jacobs has now told Reds fans to keep an eye out on potential late developments involving Ryan Gravenberch.

The Bayern Munich prodigy has been linked with a move to Liverpool for much of the summer.

However, Gravenberch’s club hasn’t been willing to negotiate with any interested suitors thus far.

The 21-year-old has struggled for game time since his move, and is yet to feature competitively this term.

‘A more versatile midfielder’

Jacobs, writing on CaughtOffside, says Gravenberch is “open” to a move to Anfield.

And with the closure of the window on the horizon, he reckons there could yet be some developments.

“Liverpool do still want another midfielder,” he began.

“But not necessarily a No.6 unless the right opportunity presents itself.

“That’s partly because Stefan Bajcetic is back in the squad.

“Keep an eye on long-standing target Ryan Gravenberch, though, who is a more versatile midfielder.

“Bayern’s position all summer has been that they don’t want to sell.

“But the player is open to Liverpool having endured a tough first season in Germany.

“Let’s see if Bayern’s position changes in the final few days of the window.”

Gravenberch certainly ticks a lot of boxes for Liverpool. He’s talented, young and has a high ceiling.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano previously said the Reds see the £25million-rated ace as a “perfect” signing for them.

It’s quite sad to see Gravenberch struggling for game time at Bayern. He could do with a change of scenery.

Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks. Hopefully the Bundesliga champions will relent, enabling Liverpool to swoop.

Fee lowered – Liverpool have to seal £21.3m signing by Friday – Report

Liverpool have been linked with Moroccan international and Fiorentina star, Sofyan Amrabat, and there is a latest twist in the saga.

As per today’s version of Corriere dello Sport (news image provided below), the Viola are tired of waiting and have given the midfielder and the suitors the ultimatum.

News – Liverpool move in to sign £30million and £60million players – Report

There is a doubt that the African star will stay in Florence and the doubt will turn into a reality if no one ends up meeting the asking price.

The Rome based media outlet have mentioned Liverpool may still be thinking about signing Amrabat, on the other hand, Ten Hag has been interested in luring the player to Man United.

However, the interest from the Reds or the Red Devils ‘must turn into a solid offer between now and Friday’ for the deal to be completed.

Initially, Fiorentina were asking for a fixed fee of 30 million euros, however, now, the fee has been lowered and the Moroccan can be lured for an initial price of 25 million euros (£21.3m).

The Italian side have made Amrabat clear they do not want a repeat of the transfer situation they faced in January and want his future resolved this week.

‘Whoever presents’ the money within time will be able to hire his services. So, Liverpool have to pay £21.3m plus bonuses by Friday to seal the signing of the Atlas Lions star.

The Serie A star was one of the best midfielders at the FIFA World Cup last year. He made the highest number of recoveries and covered the most distance in Qatar.

In your view, should Liverpool move in to seal his signing this week?

Club chief responds as Liverpool make decision on £34m midfielder deal

orussia Monchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has told Liverpool he has no intention of selling Manu Kone.

The £34million-rated midfielder emerged as a potential target for the Reds earlier in the summer and Jurgen Klopp is thought to want another signing for the centre of the park after bringing in Wataru Endo last week.

However, interest in Kone has waned due to a knee injury picked up by the France youth international at the Under-21 Euros, ruling him out until next month.

Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure is also admired by Liverpool, who are thought to be scouring the market for alternative options.

Gladbach chief Virkus expects Kone to return to action after the international break with his current club, as he stated that the German team have no need or desire to cash in on the 22-year-old.

“We don’t have to sell him,” Virkus told Bild.

“But it was always like this: if there is another immense offer, then we have to think about it. But that’s not the plan. Our plan is to keep Kone.

“Kone is a player who has something different, he gives you as a team a better balance in midfield.

“He’s coming back after the international break and he’s very important to us, a tough and intelligent footballer. We need stability in this position.”
