Tottenham aren’t pushing as hard as Crystal Palace to sign £10m player now
Charles Jones

Adam Wharton is a player that is attracting plenty of interest at the moment.
The Blackburn Rovers youngster looks like a Premier League player in waiting, and many top-flight clubs have been linked.
As ever, Tottenham are one of the teams that have been linked with a move to Wharton, but, by the sounds of it, they’re not leading this race right now.
Indeed, according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Spurs Chat Podcast, Crystal Palace are being more aggressive than Tottenham in their pursuit of Wharton.

Spurs not pushing as hard as Palace for Wharton
Jacobs shared what he knows about the youngster.
“With Wharton I’m still told that Palace are more aggressive at this point. I know that Spurs are well aware of Wharton and the fact that it’s maybe a bargain fee, it would certainly be under £20m and some say it’s as low as £10m, but I think it may be somewhere in the middle. Tottenham may have to escalate if Everton or Palace decide to move,” Jacobs said.
Plenty of time
Wharton appears to be more likely to move in the summer rather than in January, and while Spurs aren’t leading this race right now, there’s plenty of time for that to change.
Indeed, there’s a whole six months until the summer window opens, and it doesn’t take long for Spurs to step up their interest if they do indeed want a player.
Due to the size of the club and the financial power Tottenham have, it shouldn’t be hard for Spurs to jump to the front of this queue if they do indeed decide they want to sign Wharton as a priority.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as Wharton will surely be making a move to the Premier League in the coming months.

Brentford on the verge of signing £32m Tottenham player
Lee Connor
Sat 13 January 2024 16:53, UK
Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon is close to signing for fellow Premier League side, Brentford.
Reguilon is back with Spurs after leaving his short-term spell with Manchester United but now looks like he is set to seal a move to another English team.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, Reguilon is ‘on the verge’ of signing for the Bees as Thomas Frank looks to add to his squad in the January window.
Sergio Reguilon to leave Tottenham for Brentford
According to the report from France, Reguilon is now close to sealing another loan move away from Tottenham, joining Brentford until the end of the season.
A £32m signing by Spurs, Reguilon is not in the plans of Ange Postecoglou and he has been quickly moved on again here after returning from Old Trafford.
MANCHE
Destiny Udogie has come in and is the preferred choice at left-back for Spurs under the new manager, with Reguilon not even being given a sniff.
Tottenham are making moves this month and have already agreed deals to sign Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner.
MORE TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STORIES
They remain keen on Conor Gallagher as well, albeit an expensive deal could be hard to do this month.
Reguilon needs to get out
It’s been clear since Ange came in that certain players would be getting moved on and it seems like Reguilon is one of those just not fancied at all.
A move to Brentford is a bonus though. They are a good club with a top manager and Thomas Frank will be delighted to get a player like this through the door.
Reguilon had impressed at Tottenham initially but then fell by the wayside a touch under Antonio Conte.
That has continued under Postecoglou but a move to Brentford gives him a chance to get going again.
With the Bees in danger of being sucked into a relegation dogfight, Reguilon will need to have his A game ready to help out.

Club willing to sell as Spurs in regular talks for signing after Dragusin

They’re actively pursuing another new addition.

Tottenham are thought to be in regular discussions to make a third January signing after Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner, with the player’s club also willing to sell.
Spurs seal Werner and Dragusin deals
This first two weeks of the winter window has been one of the best in recent memory for Spurs, with manager Ange Postecoglou given real backing in his pursuit of early signings.

Tottenham could now make move for “tough” centre-back to replace Eric Dier
Indeed, the Australian was public in admitting that he wants new recruits through the door in quick fashion this month, with Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy obliging.
“The January window, like for every club, is an important one,” said Postecoglou on the January window last year (via football.london).
“My view on the January one is that if you can get your business done early in the window it certainly is more helpful because you leave it until the end of January and sometimes what you train to gain you’ve missed that opportunity by waiting a whole month.”
Earlier this week, Spurs confirmed the signing of Werner from RB Leipzig on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy of around £15.5 million, while Dragusin joins in a £25 million deal from Genoa.
These two quick-fire moves come as a real boost for Postecoglou, with Dragusin coming in to shore up Spurs’ back line which has been starved of options.
Both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have been absent for long periods over the last few months, leaving Postecoglou with little choice but to deploy a makeshift centre-back pairing of Emerson Royal and Ben Davies.
Meanwhile, Werner’s arrival will provide another attacking outlet for Tottenham and versatility in the forward area.
timo-werner-rb-leipzig-bundesliga
Following Spurs’ capture of the aforementioned duo, attention now turns to Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, with widespread reports suggesting that Postecoglou is keen on the 23-year-old.
Indeed, it is believed that Tottenham want a new midfield number eight and running man, with Gallagher fitting the bill in that respect.
The Englishman has been a star for the Blues this season, becoming a key player under manager Mauricio Pochettino. However, it is still believed that Chelsea could sell Gallagher in a shock move to fund their own transfer activity.
Spurs in “daily dialogue” over Gallagher
Football Insider have an update on this and Spurs’ links to the midfielder, and it comes as a bit of good news. The outlet claims Tottenham are in “daily dialogue” over signing Gallagher, with Chelsea also “willing to sell” if their valuation of around £45-50 million is met.
conor-gallagher-chelsea-spurs-premier-league
A potential stumbling block is the tension-filled relationship between Spurs and the west Londoners, but chairman Levy and co are working on a deal regardless as they eye “another marquee signing”.
It will be interesting to see if they can get Gallagher through the door, and if they do, this January window would go down as a very memorable one at N17.
