It was a 2-2 draw against Wednesday’s opponents in the season opener in August – and a result that has set the tone for Liverpool’s away form this season.

Fulham have been one of six straight home defeats for the Reds in 2020/21 and Liverpool have not taken all three game points on any of their last three tries.
Here are 10 things you need to know ahead of Liverpool vs Fulham. 1st iota a “doubt”

Diogo Jota’s impressive scoring streak is in danger of being cut short after Jurgen Klopp revealed the Portuguese striker suffered a rib injury during his away press conference for Fulham.
The 26-year-old scored a string of goals after his 372-day drought ended with a brace at Leeds.

It remains to be seen if he will be able to play a role in midweek after scoring five goals and one assist in his last four games.

Thiago is also questionable with an unexplained injury. 2. Klopp ‘didn’t apologize’ to Silva.

The Liverpool boss, who has been making headlines in recent days for his celebration of Jota’s late winner against Tottenham, has also previously irritated the current Fulham manager with his antics.

Then Everton manager Marco Silva claimed Klopp ‘didn’t apologise’ after he ran onto the pitch to hug Alisson after Divock Origi’s 96th-minute header in the Merseyside derby.

Fulham’s visit to Fulham could see Klopp welcome captain Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip to the side.
If Jota isn’t fit, the manager is likely to turn to Darwin Nunez on the left. Expected XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo

4. Gerrard in Salah’s sights

Mohammad Salah’s relentless rise in the club’s all-time goalscorers list doesn’t seem to be slowing down, with the Egyptian just two goals behind Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard.

Salah already has three goals under his belt against opponents on Wednesday, including one on this season’s opening day at Craven Cottage.

Adding to that number would have allowed him to catch up and pass the former skipper.

5. Trent delivers the goods

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the creative form of his life after making a tactical change which has seen him take up a hybrid role of right-back and midfield.

The 24-year-old got license from Klopp to go further and brought in six assists in his last five games, of which he had produced just two in the entire season leading up to that run.

It is the second time he has assisted a goal in five consecutive league games and he is the only player in Premier League history to do so twice.

6. How are the visitors?

Last season’s league winners enjoy mid-table security, currently 10th on 45 points with five games to play. A red card from Aleksandar Mitrovic at Old Trafford in March effectively ended the Cottagers’ hopes of a first FA Cup semi-final in 21 years

It was ultimately a successful return to the Premier League for Fulham, who will no doubt be looking to build on their progress in 2023-24.

Mitrovic is one of five players who will miss the trip to Anfield, with Tim Ream, Andreas Pereira and Layvin Kurzawa also confirmed and Willian doubtful.
Likely Fulham XI: Leno; Tete, Adarabioyo, Diop, Robinson; Palhinha, Canna; Wilson, Cairney, Decordova-Reid; Vinicius

7. Still no Bobby

Time is running out for Roberto Firmino to end his Liverpool career with one goal.

Last month, the manager ruled the Brazilian out of matches against Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Tottenham, in news reports that raised concerns that we may have seen the last of the striker in a red shirt

Ahead of the visit to Fulham, Klopp reiterated that Firmino will not be available for selection, leaving the 31-year-old with just four chances to don his number

9 shirt for the Reds. 8. Can we finally see nunez from the beginning?

Nunez has eliminated the pecking order of the attackers of recent times and has no longer started from trekking without score at Chelsea a month ago.

Uruguayan hopes to return to the side to try to become the first Liverpool player who was in the same season in both meetings of the competition with Fulham in the same season as Milan Baros in the same season in 2004/05.

With Luis Diaz again to Full Fitness and Jota under the objectives, it will not be an easy task to return to the line forward of Liverpool.
