Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is driving the club’s transfer interest in Sofyan Amrabat

and has already met this year with the agent of the Fiorentina midfielder.

Manchester United are also pursuing a deal for Moroccan international Amrabat with the club hopeful that Erik ten Hag’s relationship with the player is decisive. The United boss previously coached Amrabat during their time together at FC Utrecht in the Netherlands.

The United boss has been extremely virtuous towards the player – heralding his stamina and desire to place the team above himself, a quality which he holds in the upmost regard. Yet Liverpool are in the market for the player as they seek a replacement for Fabinho – who is likely to leave Anfield.

The Brazilian looks almost certain to move on in a deal worth £40million. The Reds have signed Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer but with Fabinho likely to leave coupled with Jordan Henderson (with Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain already exiting) demands defensive midfield reinforcements.

A report in The Athletic outlines how Amrabat is on Liverpool’s summer shortlist, with Southampton ’s Romeo Lavia also on their radar alongside Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch and Kalvin Phillips of Manchester City.

Amrabat starred for Morocco at the World Cup as they eliminated Spain and Portugal en route to the semi-finals. His performances in Qatar prompted links with the Merseyside Reds, among other clubs, with reports claiming Klopp held a secret meeting with the player’s agent.

The Reds have already been credited with an interest in the holding midfielder, while it is suggested that he could be open to leaving the Italian club. Fiorentina reached the Europa Conference League final last season, beaten by West Ham, but failed to qualify for European football.

Arsenal could have won the game at Anfield considering they were 2-0 up at the half-hour mark. However, things went wrong for the Gunners and they ended up drawing 2-2. In fact, Arsenal could have lost the game with the opposition dominating in the second half and creating plenty of chances. Only Ramsdale saved us in added time. Arsenal’s tactics were fine. So were the players: even Zinchenko, who is partly to blame for the conceded goals, had a relatively decent outing. The key reason behind Arsenal’s draw that feels like a defeat today was that Zinchenko, and some other players, shouldn’t have been on the pitch after the hour’s mark. It was one of these games in which Mikel Arteta forgets that he has a full bench of excellent players capable of replacing the tired ones. While Liverpool made their first sub in the 60th minute, Arteta made us wait until the 80th, when he brought on Kiwior and Trossard for Jesus and Odegaard. The double substitution changed Arsenal’

It’s no secret that the Ukraine international has been the Gunners’ priority for the January transfer window, although negotiations between the two clubs haven’t been smooth sailing, to say the least as football.london understands that an initial £55million bid was rejected and it’s thought that an improved offer of £62million wasn’t enough either. However, according to Italian outlet FootMercato, Arsenal have taken a huge step towards reaching an agreement with Shakhtar for Mudryk as the report claims the Kroenke family have given sporting director Edu Gaspar the green

Mac Allister will arrive at Anfield less than six months on from helping Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar last December, capping a highly impressive season with Brighton.

The midfielder told Liverpoolfc.com: “It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started.

“I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.

“It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.”

Mac Allister’s move to Anfield comes after three-and-a-half successful seasons at Brighton following a January 2019 switch from Argentinos Juniors, where he immediately returned on loan for six months until a further temporary stint with Boca Juniors.

His Premier League debut came in March 2020 and he went on to make a total of 112 appearances for the south-coast club, 98 of which came in the Premier League. Indeed, he faced Liverpool as an opponent on six occasions.

In addition, Mac Allister netted 20 times overall for Brighton and claimed nine assists.

At international level he has 16 caps for Argentina, with one strike to his name to date – the opener in a 2-0 win over Poland in Group C of their successful World Cup campaign.

He made six starts at the tournament and laid on a goal for Angel Di Maria in La Albiceleste’s thrilling final triumph over France.

Mac Allister will become the seventh Argentinian to represent Liverpool.

He added: “Since I won the World Cup, I said that I want to win more trophies and I think that this club will help me to do that – that’s the aim and when you are in a big club like this one you have to win trophies. So, that’s what I want.

“Since I arrived here, I can see how big this club is – the players we have, the staff, everyone. I’m really pleased and looking forward to playing for this club.”
