Report provides update on Rodrigo Bentancur’s Tottenham injury return

Rodrigo Bentancur has been stepping up his rehabilitation as he recovers from an ACL injury, and has even been taking part in warm-ups with his teammates.

Since joining Tottenham in January 2022, Rodrigo Bentancur has shown just how much talent he possesses.

In particular, his form in the first half of the 2022/23 campaign was outstanding. The Uruguay international had six goals and two assists to his name (Transfermarkt) before suffering a season-ending injury in February of this year.

The ACL injury Bentancur picked up is expected to keep him out until November. Until then, Ange Postecoglou has been able to count on the midfield pairing of Pape Matar Sarr and the rejuvenated Yves Bissouma so far this campaign.

Nevertheless, the anticipated return of Bentancur next month will be a huge boost to Postecoglou and his Spurs team as the 26-year-old can add an extra level of quality to the squad.

Bentancur will not be rushed back by Tottenham

Now, we have an update on Bentancur’s progress thanks to a report from The Athletic.

It is said Bentancur has “stepped up his rehabilitation” recently and has even “taken part in warm-up exercises” with the Spurs squad of late.

Apparently, the midfielder is “desperate” to join the rest of his teammates for more serious training sessions, but the club is making sure his path to recovery is “carefully managed.”

Unfortunately, Bentancur is not expected to return any sooner than the initial November estimate and the priority is to ensure he is not rushed back before he is ready.

Having Bentancur back will be a great boost for Spurs. Sadly, Pape Matar Sarr may eventually lose his place in the starting line-up, but an extra, top-class midfielder being in our squad again will really help our cause as we continue to compete this season.

Dejan Kulusevski explains why some Spurs players are angry with Eric Dier

The South American players at Tottenham Hotspur are apparently unhappy with Eric Dier, but don’t worry, it’s nothing too serious. Dejan Kulusevski has revealed it’s simply all down to their different tastes in music.

Spurs have a growing South American contingent at the club, with Uruguayan Rodrigo Bentancur, Argentinian Cristian Romero, and Brazilian Richarlison joining the likes of Lucas Moura, Emerson Royal, and Colombian Davinson Sanchez this year.

The North London club are flying at the moment and are currently unbeaten this season. While spirits among the squad appear to be high, there is actually a secret divide between the players.

Before we spark any scandalous rumours, we should clarify the disagreement between these certain players is not the kind of thing that can derail a season. Turns out, the South American players just don’t like Eric Dier’s taste in music very much.

That wouldn’t be such a problem, but due to the amount of time Dier has spent at the club, he’s established himself as the dressing room DJ.

Speaking to Spurs Play, Swedish attacker Dejan Kulusevski explained the situation.

He said: “The DJ is Eric Dier. We play a lot of rap, but the South Americans are very angry because they just want to hear this other kind of music but, no, we stick to rap.”

While the South American lads might not be a fan, Kulusevski is apparently pleased with Dier’s music choices. With so many different cultures within the Spurs squad, it must be hard to keep everyone happy.

Spurs Web Opinion

We love the idea of the South American boys demanding Eric Dier turns his rap music off, and Dier just turning up the volume and ignoring them. We’re pretty sure Kulusevski is playing up the situation for dramatic value and no one is actually angry with anyone.

The atmosphere among the team certainly seems to be in a good place at the moment, so let’s hope a little bit of rap music doesn’t get in the way of that.
