Leandro Trossard has sent a straightforward message after opting to celebrate his goal for Arsenal against former club Brighton.

Belgian forward Trossard left the Amex Stadium for North London in January 2023 and endured a tough game against his old employers back in May. He had a better time of it this time, though, rounding off a comfortable win for the Gunners on the south coast.

There were boos for the 29-year-old when he entered the fray as a 64th-minute substitute for Gabriel Jesus. While some players choose not to celebrate out of respect for their former employers, there was no danger when Trossard raced through to score Arsenal’s third late on.

Sharing a photo of his celebrations on Instagram, Trossard accompanied it with the simple caption “Are you not entertained?”. This didn’t go down too well with some Seagulls fans, who quickly made their feelings felt.

Kai Havertz makes clear who must take credit for Arsenal’s brilliant Brighton win
“Sorry about the boos Leo, but this one hurts,” one fan wrote. “We still love him, we just hate the way he left, forced his way out, not all of us,” wrote another.

There was a mixed response elsewhere on social media. “Why is Trossard celebrating against his old club? No respect” was one verdict, but another argued: “They don’t respect him so why should he respect them?”

Arsenal were already two goals to the good when Trossard came on, with Bukayo Saka converting a first-half penalty and Kai Havertz tapping in a second. Trossard’s goal was a solo effort, aided by a deft assist from Havertz which still left him with plenty to do, and ensured Mikel Arteta’s team ended the day top of the table.

“We played a good first half and played well in the second half until the second goal,” Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi said after watching his team drop to 10th with their defeat. “After that we played not so good and deserved to lose against one of the best Premier League sides. With our injured players we can’t compete against Arsenal.

“We are sorry and disappointed for our fans. We wanted to get points, to win the game and compete in better ways. We are spending a tough moment because we are playing without a lot of injured players. It is tough.

“We are doing better last season because then we played only one game a week. The next season I think we can reach the same level. We have a lot of young players showing promise. We have to be positive and work, keep the focus on the pitch. I am suffering because it is tough to lose.”

Manchester City star to leave, over differences during contract negotiations: report

Manchester City could be set to lose one of their stars this summer as negotiations over a new contract have reportedly ground to a halt.

City won the treble last season and are in contention for a repeat of that historic triumph this term as they continue to challenge on three fronts.

The champions came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 4-2 at Selhurst Park on Saturday and moved provisionally level with leaders Liverpool ahead of the Reds’ Premier League clash away to fierce rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Following an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Ederson early in March, Stefan Ortega has been a key player for the Sky Blues in recent weeks.

However, talks over a new contract for the German goalkeeper have reportedly broken down and the 31-year-old could now be set for a summer exit.

Ortega joined Manchester City from Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 2022 and has made 28 appearances for the club so far across two seasons.

Ortega’s current contract expires in the summer of 2025 and Bild claim there has been no progress over a new deal.

According to the Daily Mail, the goalkeeper has recently bought a house in Hamburg, although that purchase it thought to be an investment.

In FourFourTwo’s view, City would be better off keeping Ortega. The German goalkeeper has been a reliable back-up to Ederson in his time at the club and a new deal is likely to be agreed in the end.

Liverpool fans will be buzzing after what the Premier League have just announced

UK
Liverpool fans will surely be absolutely delighted after the Premier League made an announcement on Friday.

Supporters are currently feeling tense as Jurgen Klopp attempts to fend off Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta in the Premier League title race.

All three of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City boast immense quality, and it is truly hard to separate them.

Fine margins will – therefore – surely decide the Premier League title race, and Liverpool have just been given a boost in that respect…

Liverpool fans will be buzzing with Premier League announcement
The Premier League have now announced that Tottenham will play Chelsea on Thursday 2nd May – after that fixture was previously postponed due to the Carabao Cup final.

Why does that concern Liverpool, you may ask?

Well, Tottenham also face Arsenal on Sunday 28th April – before travelling to Anfield for another Premier League clash on Sunday 5th May.

It means Spurs will be playing Arsenal, Chelsea and finally Liverpool in the space of just seven days, in what is a nightmarish spell of fixtures for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

For Liverpool – however – it could mean Klopp’s side end up facing a truly exhausted Tottenham, who will presumably use a lot of energy to avoid embarrassing results against Arsenal and Chelsea, both of whom are London rivals.

In ideal circumstances, Liverpool fans will hope that Spurs are fresh enough to take something from Arsenal, but run out of steam by the time they get to Anfield and wither, therefore handing the Reds a boost in the title race.

Having said that, Liverpool need to still be in the title race by this point to benefit from whatever Tottenham might do against Arsenal.

Liverpool fixtures
There are no easy games in the Premier League, although Klopp will surely be expecting his side to reach this clash against Tottenham while still competing against Arsenal and Manchester City.

Once the Reds get Sunday’s game against Manchester United at Old Trafford out of the way, there are a number of winnable games.

Arsenal take international free agent on trial as player Arteta no longer trusts is cleared to leave

Mikel Arteta wants to sign Danish goalkeeper Lucas Martin for Arsenal
Mikel Arteta wants to sign Lucas Martin for Arsenal

Arsenal are making plans for the exit of Aaron Ramsdale this summer by taking a young international goalkeeper – who is available as a free agent – on trial as a potential replacement as David Raya’s understudy.

The three-times capped England international has endured a miserable season at Emirates Stadium, having lost his place as Arsenal‘s No 1 to summer signing Raya, who now looks set to finalise a permanent move from loan club, Brentford. And with Ramsdale restricted to just 11 appearances across all competitions this season, the 25-year-old is reportedly keen to move on in an effort to kickstart his career.

Indeed, Ramsdale was actually open to the possibility of moving on in the January window had the opportunity arisen, but despite losing the trust of Mikel Arteta, the Gunners boss was not willing to consider his sale unless a hefty offer arrived on the table. As a result, the possibility of a loan exit was swiftly taken off the table.

However, with the summer window fast approaching, rumours are gathering pace that Ramsdale will once again be allowed to leave Emirates Stadium, with the likes of Chelsea and potentially Newcastle likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper.

To that end, Arsenal reportedly value Ramsdale at around £40m; a hefty wedge of cash for a player who has effectively become a bench-warmer.

Nonetheless, the Gunners are reportedly drafting up plans for life after Ramsdale by drawing up a five-man shortlist of potential successors, with a Manchester United icon among those reportedly under consideration.

Looking to the future, however, Arsenal are now reported to have also taken a young international star on trial with a view to a permanent deal.

Arsenal take Denmark goalkeeper on trial
According to Tipsbladet, the player in question, Lucas Martin, has been on trial with both the Gunners and Paris Saint-Germain in recent days as he looks to tie down his future.

The youngter is a free agent having left FC Nordsjaelland earlier this year and has been training with Lyngby Boldklub to maintain his fitness. They are keen to secure the 17-year-old Denmark U18 international on a permanent deal, though that plan has been scuppered by the double interest from the two Champions League quarter-finalists.

As it stands, Martin – rated as one of his country’s brighest young talents – is swaying towards a move overseas and it’s reported he will now make a straight choice between signing for either Arsenal or the French giants.

Both sides are willing to offer the player a minimum two-year deal and give him the chance to establish himself within their respected first-team squads.

As a result, his coach for Denmark Under-18s Lasse Stensgaard is keen for the player to nail down his future, explaining why the goalkeeper is one to watch in the future.

“He’s a real winner and he will do everything he can to win,” Stensgaard told Tipsbladet.

“He trains insanely well and gives it his all on the pitch, and that also means that he takes the lead in that part when we play the games. He sets a standard that we are here because we have to win and not just play the game.”

Arteta impressed with young Denmark international
“In the last couple of years, he has improved his saves so that he’s also a decisive player and can take some balls, so he’s not just primarily good with his feet, but also good at what is actually in the job description.”

It’s not just Stensgaard who has been impressed, however, with the player also seemingly impressing Arteta during his trial at London Colney to the extent where the Gunners are willing to offer him a deal.

At just 17, he’s probably not considered first-team worthy at this stage, but if he accepts the offer, would be given the chance to prove himself a capable understudy to Raya in the years ahead and a player who is very much in the same mould of goalkeepers as the four-times capped Spain internatonal.

In the meantime, the potential exit of Ramsdale would leave Arsenal hunting for a new No 2, with the Gunners looking to make a big profit on their initial £20m investment from Sheffield United.

David Moyes shares his deep regret at West Ham missing out on Aston Villa star

Damien Charles Lucas
In a rare lowering of his guard on transfers David Moyes has shared his deep regret at West Ham missing out on an Aston Villa star.

Aston Villa are looking to not only emulate West Ham but go one better this season.

Like Aston Villa are now, the Hammers have been pushing the Premier League elite in three of the last four seasons.

And the Hammers have tasted glory by winning the Europa Conference League.

That’s something Aston Villa are also looking to replicate this season.

West Ham are knocking on the door for a fourth successive season of European football.

And Villa are having a phenomenal season under Unai Emery. The Villans sit fourth in the Premier League on 59 points – three places and 14 points above West Ham.

Moyes admits staggering reason he’s reluctant to sign a striker https://t.co/zAz8T1IgO3

MORE WEST HAM STORIES
West Ham a striker light for Champions League push
They are on course to qualify for the Champions League – just as West Ham were at this stage in both the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.

Indeed the Hammers finished agonisingly short of the top four by a solitary win in 2021.

On paper West Ham and Villa both have an excellent first XI but not a great deal of strength in depth.

It’s difficult to say whether signing a striker would have made the difference for West Ham between their current position and a top five push this season.

But there is a nagging sense that the right one certainly would have. And that West Ham might be where Villa are right now had they pushed to find a successor to ageing Michail Antonio.

Well it seems they very nearly did only for him to end up at Villa Park.

Now David Moyes has shared his deep regret at West Ham missing out on Aston Villa star.

Moyes shares deep regret at missing out on Villa star
The manager was asked why he has not found an heir to 34-year-old Antonio as he plays his 300th game for West Ham.

Moyes says he has tried and his biggest regret on that front is not getting Ollie Watkins.

West Ham fans who follow the transfer windows closely may remember the Hammers were linked with Watkins before he signed for Villa and again when Steven Gerrard was in charge.

It’s hard to know what to believe when it comes to transfer gossip.

But the Scot has conceded England striker Watkins was one that got away for the Hammers.

“We’ve tried for years to find people that we believed might be right,” Moyes told the press on Friday, as reported by The Evening Standard.

“If you look back over the last two or three years at the number of centre-forwards named (as targets) that might be coming here, there might be quite a lot of them that have fa
