“Transfer shocker: Newcastle beats Real Madrid to sign £95m target, as confirmed by his agent after victory!” DONE DEAL

‘Outstanding’ 23-year-old can now leave for £26m, Newcastle want to sign him
As Newcastle United close in on the signing of Harvey Barnes, the Magpies could soon have the chance to make another attacking addition.

The imminent departure of Allan Saint-Maximin should allow Newcastle to make even more signings this summer, with his exit likely to coincide with Barnes’ arrival from Leicester City.

Then the Magpies will turn their attentions elsewhere, with Eddie Howe keen to make defensive additions. He wants a left-back and a right-sided centre-back, while Tino Livramento continues to be linked with a move to St James’ Park.

But it was previously stated that Newcastle want another midfielder following Sandro Tonali’s arrival. The club looked at signing the likes of James Maddison and Dominik Szoboszlai, two players who would play in a much more attacking role.

The fees they were commanding saw Newcastle pull out, deeming that neither player was essential – unlike Tonali.

Now the Magpies have got their eye on a similar talent, and someone who will cost a lot less.

Jesper Lindstrom has been linked with a summer move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Newcastle. He reportedly wants to leave the Bundesliga club and sign for a team that will be competing in the Champions League – just like Howe’s side.

There haven’t been too many stories about the 23-year-old heading to Tyneside, but a new report from Frankfurter Rundschau, a newspaper in Frankfurt, states that Lindstrom is a target for the Magpies.

They report that Newcastle, Juventus and Arsenal are all interested in signing Lindstrom, who is expected to leave the German club this summer.

Frankfurter Rundschau add that the ‘outstanding‘ Denmark international will likely cost between £26million and £30million.

That means that Lindstrom could be available for a similar fee to what Saint-Maximin is going to cost Al Ahli. And it seems reasonable considering how talented the Frankfurt man is.

The likelihood of a deal largely depends on where Howe would plan to use Lindstrom, who can play in multiple positions. If he sees him as a left winger then a move would be odd, with Newcastle closing in on the signing of Barnes.

Using him as an attacking midfielder feels more likely, similar to what the club planned to do with Maddison.

But he is a flexible player, and someone who could add even more depth and quality to the Newcastle attack.
